"Item" Association
Are there certain things that you avoid wearing/doing/eating/listening to... because you associate it with something bad?
Ex: You don't wear orange because they remind you of some d0uche who constantly wore orange shorts.

Stand up for something you believe in.
I can't eat white cheddar mac & cheese because I got the flu after eating it when I was like 5. Never again.
I can't drink or eat anything grape flavored because it reminds me of the sick cough medicine I used to take as a child.
I refuse to watch 'Fast and Furious' anything because it reminds me of my ex and the 18 times (not exaggerating) he dragged me to see it in theaters.
this. Any artificial grape flavor reminds me of Dimetapp.
I can't hear "Jump Jive and Wail" without thinking of a swing-dancing obsessed ex-bf from high school.
I have SO many of these. My brain must just associate things on over-drive, b/c there are smells/songs/tastes/places/etc. that remind me of people/a time in my life/feeling a certain way, etc.
Some examples..
The old Bath and Body Work "Pearberry" scent reminds me of freshman year boys basketball games
The song "Me and Mrs. Jones" reminds me of my brother b/c it was his favorite song to sing in the shower.
I cannot eat orange chicken from chinese restaurants b/c it was the first meal I had after I thought I had recovered from the flu when, in fact, I had not
I have these brown flats I wear that I associate with jager bombs, mostly b/c my brother spilled 2 of them on the shoes a few years ago. They don't smell like it anymore, but I still think of them...
I have so many more....
I discriminate against certain football teams, LSU and Ohio State, only because they are the teams my ex's rooted for.
All things comic books and superheroes are also ruined for me, because of an ex.
Another ex ruined pineapple on pizza. I still like it, but every time I eat it I think of him.
Certain names are ruined for me, because of people I don't like. I'm sure Tabitha and Jeremy are perfectly fine names, but they make me gag.
And I can't drink White Russians. The smell alone is enough to make me vomit.
I can't drink lemon/lime gatorade bc a ex made me drink it in college when I was sick one time and now whenever I smell it I feel sick.
I also feel the same way about names. I went to high school with this girl and she was so nasty/mean that her name is ruined.
I have a few with food-
I can't drink pina coladas because they taste like salt water to me- made the mistake of trying to slurp up a pitcher after it fell into a friend's saltwater pool.
I don't eat hot dogs because my cousin and I had a contest to see who could swallow the biggest piece- I won, and also vomited immediately upon getting into a car.
Redheaded sluts remind me of my 21st bday because it is what all the randoms in the bars thought it was funny to buy me, so I can't even smell one of those anymore without wanting to hurl.
Stand up for something you believe in.
