Fall Festivities? apples/hayrides etc
We are taking a trip to Iowa the first weekend in Nov, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place we could go for some fall activities. DD is 1.5, and since we are in FL, we don't really have anything that seasonal. (Other than a pumpkin patch, but it's usually 90 degrees out!)
Maybe apple picking or hay rides or a corn maze....somewhere from Des Moines and East, about an hour.
We have done the Boone steam engine train, but I would like to save that for when DD is older bc it is a bit of a drive.
Re: Fall Festivities? apples/hayrides etc
We are taking our DD who is also 1.5 here this weekend: http://www.pumpkinvillecornmaze.com/
We are also going to hit this place sometime in October: http://www.howellspumpkins.com/
We have not been to either of these yet.
We have been to both Center Grove and Pumpkinville. Center Grove has tons of fun stuff for the kids to do and check out. They really have something for everybody there. You can pick your own apples or just buy from their shop. There is an admission fee for anybody over 2 which gets a bit steep for our family but you are for sure going to have fun.
Pumpkinville is also fun and that is where we usually go to get our pumpkins. It is more like a small family farm that you visit. The websites shows most of the fun stuff they have. We most enjoy the hayride out to the pumpkin patch and picking out our own pumpkin. It is free admission except for the corn maze and our kids love going every year. FWIW my kids are 4 and 2 now and we have been going since they were born.
Thanks everyone! These ideas are perfect! Exactly what I was looking for
I appreciate it!
