I now have a Wegman's 15 minutes from me. This could be very dangerous. I loved the selection of foods! I wish where I live in Maryland would let grocery stores sell beer and wine because I'm sure they'd have a great selection there too. I went around 2pm (post-call) and I was surprised how crowded it was. I didn't have a list other than fruits and veggies, so I'm going to try to go again tomorrow before I go into work to get stuff for the weekend.
I've heard of truffle mushrooms, but I have never seen them. Yeah, they were $300/lb at Wegman's today.

Re: Wegman's
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I would have a really hard time agreeing to move anywhere that did not have a Wegmans. I lived without one (well, part-time) in college (the nearest one was 40 minutes away) and it was awful.
Wegmans is the bee's knees. I saw a blog post recently that said (paraphrasing), "It sounds ridiculous to express so much love for a grocery store. But the truth is, people who have never been just don't understand."
Congratulations on your new Wegmans! Be prepared to never want to shop anywhere else ever again.

I love Wegman's! I lived next to one several years ago, and was just amazed by it! They are building one in my town, but it won't open for a few more years! Boo...I miss it!
Seriously, Wegman's is not just a grocery store, it is literally an experience:)
Our crazy, wonderful life
Ditto! Do tell!!
I am staying far away from it for right now. I hate crowds and everyone has said it's busy at all hours. The good news is the other stores around are slow and running great sales! I'm sure I'll get there soon though.
PS- this post remids me that we need to G2G. If you live 15 mins from Wegmans you live 15 mins from me!
This!!!!
Agreed! I'm so bad with planning things though.
It's a grocery store, I can't describe it very well yet, but they have a wide range from normal groceries to things that are a little harder to find. They also have a huge bar of hot food selections.
DH went to school upstate and had them and described it to me as really big and 'kind of like Walmart' which doesn't seem to be at all like you guys are describing. He said it's super cheap like walmart. I guess I kind of always thought of it more like a ginormo Trader Joes or something.
Hmm, that is really not true ("cheap like Walmart"). Their prices actually tend to be on the higher side when compared to other grocery stores, but anyone who shops there will tell you it's worth it because of the customer service/selection/"experience" of shopping.
The atmosphere of a Wegmans is sort of like an open, outdoor market/cafe. Upscale feeling. Huge, beautiful produce departments (that buy local produce whenever possible). In-store bakeries that bake everything fresh, from gourmet cookies and desserts to bagels/muffins/donuts to focaccia and french baguettes. Pizza shops, sub shops, mediterranean food bar, asian wok, really a ridiculous variety of prepared foods. Wegmans is a destination!
Good stuff. Obviously, I so totally
Wegmans.
