Save The Date

When to send out save the dates???

Re: Save The Date

  • Up to six months prior to wedding, I'd say, especially if people have to travel.

  • I'm a wedding planner and this is what I tell my brides....

Nine months out is a good amount of time if you are having a destination wedding or if a good percentage of your guests are coming from out of town. (For example, of the 165 people invited to my wedding about 150 live far enough away to have to fly in/book a hotel.) A friend got married in Hawaii and sent her's out a year in advance, and I think that was appropriate.

You need to send invitations out somewhere between 3 and 1.5 months before the wedding, so definitely send STD's no later than 6 months or there really is no point.

    Hope that helps!

Also, have you used any of The Knot features? They have great timelines and the girls on those boards are super sweet!
