Shilshole Bay Beach Club...wedding attire?

DH and I are going to a wedding on Saturday at Shilshole Bay Beach Club.  Anyone been there or know anything about it?  The photos on their website look pretty nice.  That, combined with the fact that the wedding doesn't start until 7pm, makes me think it's more on the "fancy" side of things (though the invite doesn't really reflect that).

The only nice dress I have right now (that fits) is black.  What do you think...wear the nice, black dress?  Or go with something more colorful that's less formal?

  • Can you ask someone in the bridal party? Or the family? If not I think I would rather be over dressed than underdressed and I think black is perfectly fine for a nighttime wedding, especially this time of year.

I wish.  The groom is one of DH's rugby teammates, who I don't know very well.  I'm not even sure I know anyone else who's going.

  • I went to a wedding there in mid October a few years ago.  It was my second wedding of the day.  I wore a black velvet pants suit (ala J.Crew) with a lime green silk tank underneath.  It does get warm in there.  I know they have several rooms for events.

I think the black dress will be fine.

    Good luck!

  • I would go with the black dress.
  • i've gone to shilshoe--for both an evening wedding, and 2 other non-wedding related events.........TBH, the pictures make it look WAY nicer than it is IRL. you can't go wrong with a black dress like pp suggested. always better to be over dressed than under dressed. it's not an evening gown type of location.
