Dubai packing help

What should I bring? Do I need a few short sleeved cardi's? It's a place you can't show your shoulders or knees (outside the hotel, right?  I sure as heck hope I can wear my swimsuit and bikini at the pool and beach?)

Any tips welcome!

Re: Dubai packing help

  • I have no packing advice I just wanted to say that I'm jealous! I hope you have an amazing trip, when do you leave?
  • I wasn't swimming, but the people at the pool were wearing bikinis. I'd recommend the shortsleeved cardis mainly because the a/c can be quit cold.

Comfortable shoes. It's a lot of walking.

  • It should still be pretty warm, so I always take a dress and a skirt, along with a pair of jeans that I usually wear on the plane.

Dubai is a little more lax in their dress code, and if you're at at hotel for dinner/brunch/etc, you don't have to be quite so covered.

I'm used to Doha so I do tend to cover my shoulders and knees while I'm there. And Ditto Faye on the sweater or a pashmina - the malls will be chilly! :-)

  • Agreed with JennyBee - A/C is everywhere so it's usually cold inside, even though it'll be warm outside. And yeah, Dubai almost anything goes - bikinis are fine at the hotel pools, etc. :) The weather should be cooling off soon! You know, like to the high 80s/low 90s. ;)

  • You can be outside of hotels in shorts and a tank top.  The only other place you're really going to be is a mall and they are used to it.  If you go to a mosque, then you need to cover up.

If you do a desert safari it will get colder at night.  Other than that, any scarves or cardis are really just for your comfort in all the A/C.

BTW, Dubai Mall, 10 am on Sunday, Oct. 16?
