Re: POLL: If there were a male BC pill

  • Heck yeah and I think he'd be all over it. I'm done with pills due to hormones so we're back to condoms. I think he'd be glad to give those up if all he had to do was take a pill every day. He wants a baby less than I do so I think there's incentive to remember.

Obviously if he had hormonal problems taking it like I do I wouldn't make him do it. Although, if it lowered his drive it would probably put us on a level playing field.

    Win all around.

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • Yes - he could choose that or condoms.  I can't take BCP so it's always been condoms for us.  Anyway, he is way more disciplined than I am and would never forget to take it (which, honestly, I probably would).
  • I told DH when I stopped BCP last year that the responsibility was now his. We charted to TTA for a while, and used condoms when needed. I think he really wants me to restart bcp after this baby, but I was taking them for close to 10 years. I'm done Stick out tongue his turn, end of story.

  • It would be a great idea and I would totally suggest to DH so we can ditch the condoms.  However, after about 2 weeks he would probably forget to take it on a daily basis so it would be worthless to us.
  • If I was in the place where we absolutely did not want any babies, I think I'd have him take it and me take it.

Also, if my son(s) were older & I had reason to believe they were sexually active, I would offer to take them to get it, too.

  • Special Snowflake:

Back when we weren't TTC: I wouldn't necessarily want DH to take it, but he would probably want to. Way back when, it was his idea that I started BC, so if could have handled it himself, he definitely would have.

  • DH would be all for taking BCP. He'd probably be better at taking a pill daily than I would be.

  • I'd definitely try to get DH to try it. He hates condoms, I hate being on pills, and he already has to take pills daily for high blood pressure, so he'd remember better than me too. It'd be a win all around.

SS- For someone who is actively TTA, it would be good for both to be on it.  Extra cautious!

  • DH would totally remember to take it, and maybe we'd try it in addition to me being on it, but I don't mind the pill. It makes my periods way shorter and lighter, and I'm used to taking it every day so I'm pretty good about it.
