**Bronco**

Since I'm moving to your neck of the woods, I was wondering if you could fill me in on a few things:
1. are there any mom/playgroups in the area that you know of/could recommend?
2. how do you like the library there- I've browsed their site and it doesn't seem like they have a ton for little ones. We're addicted to the library in this house!
3. Do you have a favorite grocery store in the area?  I'm used to Meijer and will probably still shop at the one near here since I'll be here twice a week for preschool.

Thanks :)  I'm excited to start learning the area.  I think we're going to stop into the library tomorrow for storytime.

  • Do you have any favorite parks for the kids to play at?

  • How was the library storytime?  I wish I would have known & planned better, I would have met you there!  Who did the storytime?  I like the gal w/the long blonde hair, she was great w/the kids.

    1. I go to MOMS (Mom Offering Moms Support) mom's group at the church right across from where I live (you don't have to attend church or that church to attend). http://storage.cloversites.com/northvillefirstunitedmethodistchurch/documents/MOMS%20fall%20schedule%202011.pdf

Childcare is $5 for the 1st child, $2 for each addl't child.  Your first visit is free so you can see if you like it or not.  The church is at 8 Mile/Taft.

Also, on Meetup.com, I'm in the New Moms of Northville group.  We just have meetups & get to meet other moms.

    2. I love the library, it's not as big as Plymouth (I use to live in Plymouth) or the new Novi library (we're 2 miles from that one).  I've done the storytime at Northville & Novi, to get the kids out more.  Also I've done the storytime at the Farmington library (the downtown Farmington branch).  Remind me in the summer to send you my spreadsheet of all the activities.  I made one from all the local libraries/outdoor music things, and we could have had something M-F to do each week.

Northville does have kids music each Tues. morning in the summer, 10:30am in the town square area.  They also do Fri. night concerts as well, we would sometimes walk down there & listen.

    3. There is a Meijer at 8 Mile/Haggerty.  I go to the Wixom one since it's about the same distance from where I'm at, but less crowded.  8/Haggerty also has a Target & Kohl's.  There is also a Babies R Us, but I'd still drive the extra to Buy Buy Baby in Canton.  There's a Kroger at 6/Haggerty, right by a Bed, Bath & Beyond!  Busch's is at 6 Mile/Newburgh & Hiller's is at 5 Mile/Haggerty.  I'm not a big Kroger person, probably since Hiller's in downtown Northville is a stones throw for me.  Plus, Hiller's is the only place that has milk on sale for $2.39 (I can't beleive that's on-sale, remember when it was under $2?) each week, limit 2.  So I'm always going there for milk.  I like Busch's as well, I am a MyWay member, basically you scan the card when you checkout and they send you each week an email saying what is onsale from things you have purchased.  It's nice if there's something I really like, i know they have it on sale or will the following week.

    4. Playgrounds.....hmm, don't know about that, since we have a swing/slide at our commons area and the other ones I would go to is at 10 Mile/Taft or 8/Napier, close to me, but farther for you.  I'd just ask your neighbors if there is something around there.  You will be close to Laurel Park Place Mall, which I love their play area better than 12 Oaks, it's smaller & the moms pay attention more to their kids there.  I'd love to meet up w/you anytime, esp. on rainy days or in the winter if you want.  Good way to get the kids out.

Whew, well, I think that gives you a start.  I'll let you know if i think of more, plus I'll let you soak all this in & not get a headache  Big Smile

If you come to the moms group on Oct. 3rd, let me know so I can plan to get there early & meet you.

  • Oh my! Thank you!! You're are FULL of information. I'll try not to abuse that Wink

I'm not sure if I'd make it to Oct 3rd meeting, but I'll definately pencil it in.  We're having company mid-week and it's the sort of company you want your house to be spotless (MIL/FIL).

We never made it to storytime. :(  I completely forgot until it was too late to leave. Next time, we're going. I'll look up on their calendar and let you know when we'll be getting out there. Maybe we could meet up.
