Poll: Texting & Driving

No SS. It's pretty simple - you either do or you don't.[Poll]

Re: Poll: Texting & Driving

  • I know I shouldn't and I want to not do it, but I still do it anyways.

  • Yeah. I'm trying to get better about it. I got a voice-to-text app & I need to use it more.

  • I wait until a red light about 90% of the time but I have been known to text a quick response while driving.

    Yep, I'm guilty of this.
  • I've just recently gotten better about this. I'll start to, and then ask myself "Is this worth accidentally killing someone over?". Obviously, the answer is always no. I basically have to guilt myself into not texting.

  • I voted no because I will never touch my phone except to hang up a call while the car is moving. I do text/surf/email at stop lights, though.

  • Umm... hell no.  I personally know someone who killed two little girls because she wasn't paying attention while driving.  Not only did these two precious girls lose their lives, but she faced the possibility of spending the rest of her life in prison and she has to live with that guilt for the rest of her life.  Not. worth it.  Seriously.  I won't even talk on my phone while driving let alone text.

eta: This may sound harsh, but I think there should be a zero tolerance policy in place for people who are caught texting and driving at the same time.  There's just no excuse for it (especially when you consider situations like the one above).

Completely agree 100% with this.  Aside from the obvious safety hazard, I constantly see people messing up the traffic flow on I95 during my commute because of this.  Yesterday morning there was some dumbazz driving waaaay under the speed limit in the left lane, swerving in her lane, with a bunch of cars stuck behind her.  I passed her in the middle lane and look over to see her concentrating so hard on texting.  SO.FREAKING.ANNOYING.  I seriously considered reporting her.

  • Nope, I never have.  And I hate it when I see people doing it- because they are usually going too slow, and are oblivious to everyone around them.
