We typically spend more on his parents, because we don't do much (if anything) for my father.
We also spend more on his siblings (1 sister + her SO, and then 1/2 niece's offspring), because all my brother wants is calenders (autism obsession of his).
do you pick out the gifts for his family or does he?
We usually ask them what they want, but if they don't tell us anything or aren't specific then I pick out what to get them.

i try to spend about the same on both sets of parents, but its kind of hard bc my parents are really hard to shop for and so i usually end up spending more on them.
for picking out presents i send suggestions and ideas to h. sometimes he will go with something that ive suggested or sometimes that sparks an idea for him.
do you spend about the same on your parents as your h's? and his siblings and yours? No. But, generally I only buy my parents gifts, not my siblings. And DH. I would send a small care package to MIL before she passed and small gifts to DH niece/nephew. Nothing to his siblings.
do you pick out the gifts for his family or does he? I pick out everything. DH doesn't shop, if I try to shop w/ him he whines and wants to grab anything just to leave. If it was up to him, no one would get anything.

yep, we tend to keep things pretty even. only exception is I often end up spending the most on my sister, but she's really fun to shop for

i pick out and purchase all gifts. it's one of the ways we divy up tasks
