need ideas..

I want to start a hobby of some sort and was wondering what all of you do for a hobby??? Just looking for some ideas to keep my self busy, especially this winter! :)

Re: need ideas..

  • My mom always likes to crochet in the winter because once her afghans reach a certain size, they keep her legs warm. :)

I sew and quilt. Right now I'm working on a few remaining projects for the baby and sewing cloth diapers.

  • I sew, paint/draw, and do crafts (mostly to decorate my house).
  • I knit...a lot.  I especially love to do it in the winter because like pp said, the larger projects keep me warm and I get to show the quicker projects off as soon as they're done.  Makes for great Christmas gifts, too.

I just now finished a big slouchy beret and will probably be casting on some socks tomorrow.

  • My first exploration into crafting was crocheting.  It's simple to learn, easy to do (especially blankets!) and not too expenisive.  I also like jewlery but having problems with my arm and it's hard to do now, is very expensive and I can't wear jewlery that much.  I just got a sewing machine and have been enjoying it but more expensive to get into too and I'm finding fabric selection overwhelming!

  • I sew mostly and crochet in the winter. But I love all crafts and have dabbled in all of them over the years.

  • I sew and quilt. I have also started taking an acrylic painting class once a week. I love it and will probably buy the supplies soon to do it at home also.

  • I crochet and scrapbook quite a bit.  Like PP post said crocheting itsn't too terribly expensive, my scrapbooking habit, on the other hand, is a bit more costly.  Lol.  I occasionally sew as well and I'm hoping to learn to quilt next.
  • I sew and scrapbook.  If I had more (or any) freet ime I'd love to learn to crochet or knit.

  • There are soooo many possibilities. If you're just starting out, I would pick one type of project that can dovetail with another interest of yours. If you're interested in home decor, maybe you can learn how to make wreaths. If you're interested in photography, scrapbooking might be a good outlet. Cooking... you could make towels/potholders, or make treat bags to wrap up your goodies, etc. Are you on Pinterest? It's a good place to look for ideas of what you'd like to do or make.
