S/o dentists

Can I get my teeth cleaned at 8 months pregnant? I was under the impression the dentist was a no go or maybe no xrays

Re: S/o dentists

  • I got mine done at 6 months, but no xrays.  It's actually a good idea, b/c our gums can swell during pg.  I saw 2 spots in my mouth that I was paying attention to, but my dentist was able to point out a third place to watch out for.

  • Yes.  I had a cleaning, and XRAYs- they doubled up the lead shields.  I had Xrays because I had a toothache which wound up needing to be pulled out by a  surgeon within hours.  They did more xrays there.

Elective dental work usually is turned down, they are making me go in this month, because they didn't want to do anything unnecessary while pregnant.

  • Yes, it's recommended to have two cleaning s while pregnant. They dont like to do anything during the first trimester though. Im scheduled to go again the end of next month. I don't feel comfortable having X-rays done since they aren't a necessity, you can definitely refuse them.

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
  • Yes! Going to the dentist is actually recommended in 2nd and 3rd tri because gum disease has been linked to pre-term labor. I'm in the process of scheduling now for an extraction plus impant and a wisdom tooth extraction. My teeth have been a mess since my pregnancy with G, despite taking great care of them :-(
