Our dirt mound (PIP)

Thanks for eveyone's help yesterday with the final questions before signing our contract.

We signed it last night and put our sold stickers on the homesite sign.

We break ground in 40 days!  Now comes the fun part of picking colors

Here's a picture of our property right now!

DH, who is a photographer is completely excited about the great sunsets we're going to get from our backyard :)

Re: Our dirt mound (PIP)

  • Congrats!  That looks pretty!

We signed yesterday too!   We actually signed with a 60 day contingency a month ago, but yesterday we lifted the contingency.   All our color choices are done and finalized, now we are just waiting for permits - but I'm guessing we'll break ground around the same time as you!

Awesome! Looking forward to going through this with you.

How long from the ground break until you close?  They are telling us we'll be in the house by the end of March :)

  • It's so exciting and nerve-wracking all at once!     I'm glad to see someone on here building like we are.

They are saying we will break ground in mid-October, and estimated close in February 3rd.     They said it takes 3-4 weeks to get permits, then they have a pre-construction meeting with us a week before they break ground.   Given that timeline, I think we'll break ground at the end of October - but I can always hope for earlier.

We just wanted to break ground before the winter freeze sets in, so I hope its ASAP.    Our house has a full basement, and I've heard its better to get those foundations done before the dead of winter.

  • Sounds like we're a couple months behind you.

I understand your concern about the foundation.  Our builder said that it's actually better to get a house built in the winter, because of the curing process they use at this time is stronger.  Take that for what it's worth :)

    Good luck with everything!

  • Congrats on your empty mound!

We're also in the building process but we'll probably close sometime in January.

    Enjoy the journey!
