Maribelle Cakery

Has anyone used them before?  How are they?

Re: Maribelle Cakery

  • I'm pretty sure Maribelle either went out of business or was being sold.  She supposedly made THE BEST cakes though when it was still Maribelle doing them...and it had a price tag to match!
  • I agree with pp, I believe they went out of business. DH and I did try their cakes and they were good, but not worth the price if you ask me.
  • She reopened in Cheviot on Cheviot Ave.  We stopped by today and tasted a few things and it was AMAZING.  She pretty much just said they needed a bigger place than what they had in reading and this spot worked out for them.
  • My sister booked them for her wedding last year & they sent her a letter saying they were closing bc/ of "deaths" in the family 6 weeks before her wedding.  She had to scramble to find a new bakery that could do a huge cake on a holiday weekend.  If the Cheviot location has the same owners then I would absolutely NOT use them based how they treated their clients when they "closed."  If it's new owners then I probably would try them.

Sorry to hear your sister had to go through that.  I'll have to see if I can find out if it is the same owners or not.

  • A lady used to own it named Beth Ann I believe is her name. She then sold it to a guy (I can't think of his name), but his wife worked at European Bridal. I know this isn't much useful info, but that might help in trying to find out who now owns it. Good luck. There are so many other great bakeries out there if you are in search of one for a wedding cake.

  • Maribelle did reopen with new owners.  They business was sold with all the recipes and staff in the contract.  So everything except the owners should be the same.  I know they closed the Reading location and were planning to reopen a store, but I have heard if that location has actually opened to the public.   You can check their website or Facebook page.
