A little nervous

I just made a vet appt for the stray cat that's been hanging out on my deck. I'm nervous that I might find out that I can't take it in because it's sick. I've already started to get attached, so having to leave it at the shelter would make me really sad. I'm also nervous that it'll get a clean bill of health, but that my cat won't be able to adjust to having a new cat in the house. We have the kitten in the carrier already on the deck and it's like my cat knows something is up because he's been hissing at us all morning. Ugh. I just hope everything works out, but regardless of how it turns out, I know that I'm doing the best thing for the kitten by not leaving it outside.

Re: A little nervous

  • You're right, you're doing what's best for the kitten! Don't be too nervous. FX that it comes out with a clean bill of health. Your cat WILL eventually adjust to having a new playmate. It may take months (it did with mine and they had lived together before) but eventually they won't remember what life was like before they were together. Hope the transition goes well :)
  • I'm trying to just be positive about the whole thing and not worry too much, but I'm just a worry-wart by nature! I'll keep you guys posted about how things go. Hopefully I'll be AWing pictures of the cutie later tonight. :)

Me too, but I'm able to say positive things because I'm outside the situation. If I was really in your shoes, I would be worried out of my mind too...

  • Aw, I am sure everything will work out fine! The kitty will hopefully get a clean bill of health and your cat will welcome him/her into the home.

FWIW, I have 2 cats from the same litter and I am pretty sure they hate each other more than they love each other, while mine apparently need some space maybe yours is ready for some companionship. :)

  • Fingers crossed it all works well for ya!
