Can I just make fun of someone?
It's coming up on November, which is the month that all of the babies in our play group turn 1.
Birthday parties are being planned.
One mom wrote "Come join the fun in our casual backyard get together! Enjoy a jump castle, a balloon artist, and a face painter!"
The kid is turning ONE. He is her only child.
Re: Can I just make fun of someone?
Also, that does not sound like a "casual" backyard party.
Unless your last name is Spelling, of course.
This reminds me of a chapter in the Three Martini Playdate (should be required reading for all new parents... I especially love the chapter called "Say 'No' to your kids... it's a kick.")
Anyway:
There is a whole chapter on first birthdays that basically says a first birthday should be a time for parents to celebrate the fact that they survived the first sleepless, confused, scared and crazy year. As PP mentioned, the child is not going to remember any aspect of this day. Give him a cupcake to destroy, throw some burgers and dogs on the grill and enjoy a martini, or two...
Ginger, that is insane.
I just got a STD for one in a private room at the aquarium and one for a party booked at an amenity center.
I guess I'm the only one having a house party. DS is so deprived! However will he explain this to his therapist in 20 years?!
I am doing a theme, but I think I have spent maybe $40 on supplies. Everything else is just to balance the theme out and is coming from Wal Mart or Target (forks, plates).
Plus I am doing most of the menu myself. No catering here!
What theme are you doing, Punky?
I literally just started even thinking about DS's party on Thursday. I have bought nothing (not even invitations). I suck.
Dr. Seuss!
Well DS is a week older, and I just started planning Friday. So technically, you are ahead of the game here! LOL
Off to look up invitations...
Gracious, Kiwi. I feel sorry for your child.
And your husband too!
