I finally jumped on the blogging bandwagon. It's going to be a hodge podge of shanghai living, allergen free cooking, and general anti-GMO stuff (discussing interesting articles, etc).... as well as whatever else pops up...
Here it is:

I know, it's crazy! For so long, it was in the distant future that it sort of snuck up on us. The other day Bryan was like "well, it's like 6 months away, blah blah blah..." I had to count the months for him. Less than 4! We both kind of had an "oh crap" moment realizing we have a lot to do to get ready. I had to get round 1 hep a/b vaccines yesterday. yuck!
I'm following too! Here's the clicky link
PCOS and Endo
Ovarian drilling and endo removed 1/3/12
BFP - 3/27/12
Beta's 11, 14, 57, 637, 2800
Sono showed no baby and teeny tiny sac. Waiting to M/C naturally.
Cool! I'll be sure to follow you when I get home....it's blocked here...boo.
Man, 4 months away...hey do they have organic places to by food and goods over there? I'm assuming they have local farmer's markets.
Yuck is right

I will definitely be following!!
I can't wait to hear more about your move plans.
How does your family feel about you going so far for that long? Do they have plans to visit, or will your primarily be coming back here?
That was one thing I was the most worried about - food and water! Bryan has looked into the food, in depth, for me many times! However, the place we're thinking about living is a 5 min. walk from the largest and nicest International grocery store, City Super, which has everything we could want there, including organic, gluten free, etc. They even carry Seventh Generation products. Anyhow, the Asians don't eat much dairy or gluten anyways, so I'll mostly have to watch out for soy and egg. However, Chinese soy is very different from US soy, so it will be interesting to see if Margot is allergic to their soy.
Oh, and Jackie will like this - the grocery market is in like the nicest mall in Shanghai, so I'll be walking past Gucci, LV, Hermes, Chanel, etc to go grocery shopping. haha
Here's a link and some pics of the IFC mall:

My Dad won't even really talk about it
My Mom said she'll probably cry for a month, but she is so happy and excited for us. She's looking at it as a once in a lifetime adventure for us. Bryan's parents are nothing but happy about it, but they're family is not as close as me and my family - as in, they don't visit or talk on the phone that often anyways.
Our families will definitely come visit us. My sister, BIL, and nephew are already planning on coming next summer. My parents will be coming at least once, but they don't know when yet. Bryans parents will be coming as well at some point. DIsney will fly us home once a year for a visit, but we're going to try to negotiate twice a year.... at least for Margot and I.
Yea-my mom freaked out about us moving to DC or the two years we were there for DH's job. She took it really hard. I think she really had in her head that we wouldn't come back. My family is super, super close and thinks it's crazy if we don't all see each other every weekend.
It will definitely be the adventure of a lifetime! And it is perfect timing being that Margot isn't in school yet so you don't have to worry about the transition and you aren't working so there is no job transition for you either. I'm so excited to see your little adventure there!
you're right though, it really is the perfect time for us to go. Margot doesn't know any different, she will pick up the language easily, I'm not working anyways, etc. We are going to get an ayi either part time or full time. That should help all 3 of us with our mandarin! Also, our last year there, Margot will be 3 and I'll probably put her in half day preschool there. The schools there are supposed to be amazing!
What an awesome place to buy groceries!!
It is hard being so far from family. When I was in Asia, I would email my family and Rodgers my days off once I had my schedule for the week. Then one of them would usually call me at their bedtime/my wake up time. Once I got through the first 6 weeks, it was easier - I guess I had gotten used to it by then.
Seriously!
