AW: I made a OS pocket diaper

I didn't do any inserts yet and there are a lot of kinks to be worked out before attempting more, but althought it won't fit LO for a while, it should fit Alex okay. We'll test run it soon.

Re: AW: I made a OS pocket diaper

  • nice! I have wanted to try making one.... How hard was it? Where did you find PUL?
  • Joann's now carries http://babyvilleboutique.com/ so they have all the stuff to make them, plus a book with patters and directions. I altered one of the patterns to attempt a OS. It's a bit bigger than our other OS, but all in all it wasn't too hard. Next is to see how it actually works. I'll test it out on Alex tomorrow.
  • Very cute!  I like the pink trim, is that fold over elastic? Let me know what you think after Alex tries it.  If it works well, maybe I'll purchase the book and try this pattern instead of the one that I have.

Now I feel inspired to make some diapers :)

  • It is the FOE, and I'm leary about it after hearing your issues with it. However, it's what I had already purchased for the project, so I figured I'd give it a go. Today I picked up some elastic to put inside for future use, so I'll try that. I picked up a yard of PUL and a yard of fleece, and was able to cut out 6 diaper frames from each, so I have a lot of experimenting to do, and for the price, I'm really excited. I'm loving it so far, just hope it works tomorrow.
  • I think the FOE that I have is really wimpy, as in the elasticity is really loose.  When I sewed it, I pulled it pretty tightly yet it hardly gathered at all when I let go.  I only used it for a cover and the leg holes of the cover are pretty loose.  Maybe the FOE you picked up is much better, your leg holes look good, they look gathered like they are supposed to.

  • Bummer. There are some leaking issues. I'm thinking there was an opening on the leghole when she was sitting because there only looked like minor wicking to the elastic, but there was a puddle on the couch. It did absorb for a bit though, so back to the drawing board, but hopefully a few adjustments will make it work better.

  • Sorry it didnt work as well as you had hoped, but it's really cute, you did a great job!
