DH's good buddy plays for the Dallas Cowboys, and DH is a Redskins fan. This is a huge rivalry. But, I would LOVE to plan a trip for DH and a friend to go to Dallas and attend this game next year (because even though a home Redskins game would be cool, the Dallas stadium is SO worth a visit). I think it'd be an awesome post-baby, birthday/Christmas trip for him.
But, I have no idea how to start. Obviously, I have plenty of time, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience getting tickets to Dallas home games, or other NFL games and might know where I should start looking after this season. I will have to arrange flight, hotel, rental car, transportation to the stadium or parking, etc. I have the hebee jebees just thinking about it, but I know how much he would love it.
Re: Any ideas how to start this? NFL/travel related
When we buy Bills tickets, we buy them directly through their website. Once or twice in the past, we bought them on eBay (season ticket holders who were dumping some of their tix because they couldn't make that particular game or whatever).
Tickets don't usually go on sale until beginning of August, though, if I'm remembering correctly.

P.S. Are you giving this to him as a Christmas gift THIS year?
If that's the case, I would make up a cool piece of paper with photos/graphics and a description of what you're giving, then put it in a box or frame. Then you can plan as you get closer, instead of trying to plan so far in advance!
Are you flying him to Dallas for it? If so, you could consider using the airline ticket template that many people use for save-the-dates. I used them for Michael's 30th birthday present (trip to Charleston, SC) and it was something very cool for him to open.

Oh, I love the template idea! Yes, I will have to fly him there. I think I'll wait to "gift" it to him after baby, but his birthday is during football season so it will be his early birthday gift for next year. Likely Christmas too because of the price! That way I can book the flight, etc. when I see prices going low enough, and wait to buy tickets til they go on sale.
I didn't realize you even BOUGHT tickets directly from the team's website...I figured you had to use some ticket vendor site or ebay or something, so that's good news. Much less complicated on my end most likely.
Is this the same player that's our mutual friend? That's so exciting! I don't really have any advice but that sounds like so much fun. I think he's going to love it.
On a side note if you play fantasy you should check out the blurb for him this week lol. We both kind of laughed out loud and felt bad at the same time.
No advice but that's sounds like a great surpirse/gift.
H and I are trying to get to a game in cowboy stadium one of these days. One of our HS friends plays but he's currently injured.
You might wanna google an see if there are packages that are already put together that include all that stuff. Maybe for specific games? I'm sure there has to be. Like you said the stadium itself is worth a trip.
It's not, actually, though that would be a bonus. DH and I are both friends with that guy's brother (he was DH's quarterback in college) but we don't know him well (met at a party once or twice). This guy is a lineman.
And LoveofJoe, you're right, he might not be there! Haha. I will have to do refundable or easy to change flights if I book early, for sure. Same with hotel.
Awesome idea, Cassidy! As a Redskins fan myself, I would totally appreciate a gift like this!
I did something similar in 2004 for DH...but baseball. I bought us tickets to see the Red Sox/Yankees play at Fenway. (For baseball fans, it was the brawl game!) We flew but since my in-laws live in Rhode Island, we had a place to say. To this day, it was still one of DH's most favorite gifts:)
Best. Gift. Ever.
I agree that whether your friend is still in Dallas or not, it's still an awesome gift!
