I've been working on this off and on for a few weeks, it's the first thing I've sewn for myself and I'm pretty excited. It's not perfect but it fits and I learned a lot. I also became good friends with my seam ripper. I think I was a little too ambitious using satin... but again, I learned a good bit like if you iron it, it will melt on to your new iron. Another bonus- DH and I are going to try to have a baby in the not too distant future and this is baggy enough that it may work then too!

Also, if there is anything you see that you can give me some feedback on (what did I do wrong/ different than you would, your advice is welcome. I am extremely new to sewing and have no one IRL to help me out!!!
Re: AW- my first garment! PIP
I love the colors and print. Could you post a pic of you wearing it so we can get a better view? lol at the melting and seam ripper. It's always the mistakes that teach the most! Also, I've found that making baby clothes is way faster and easier than it is for grownups. Much more fun. Good luck in TTC, and keep us posted!
Thanks everyone! I plan on wearing it under a suit jacket...which is good since it is loose!
here are a few pics. Sorry they aren't that great
under my suit jacket
with a skirt (the twist at the top is a bit bulky)
(I adjusted the twist after this picture... you can see it's a bit flatter in the middle picture) (Please ignore the laundry in the background haha)
It's very cute!! Good job.
As for tips, you'll want to use lower heat and a presser cloth when working with satins like that.

your username is very fitting here... i wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry when it happened... but I'm learning to take these mistakes as lessons.
