I thought I found a friend....

So I made fb friends with a girl who husband was in the same company as mine through boot camp and they are now at SOI together.  I was excited to be able to relate to someone who had been married to their SO before they joined.

That was until today.  I just saw on her FB that she joined the groups "Marine Wife, Toughest Job in the Corp" and "DogTags N Baby Fever" and changed her job status to Wifeyy (yes with 2 y's) at USMC Wife.

Le sigh.... there are going to be some normal wives when we get our PDS right?

  • Most guys don't show up at their first duty station with a newborn and a wife, so it might take a while to find a group.

I won't have the baby yet when we move. Maybe I can pretend I'm just fat and then I can find a group of women to be friends with sooner?  Hey everyone loves someone who is willing to be the DD right?

  • From when my husband entered BMT to when i found a really great friend was nearly a year. We bonded over our doggies. I had "friends" here and there but I was mostly friendless until we got really settled at his first duty station.

  • I went through 2 sets of friends before I found a group of people that I love. I swear moving to a new place is like dating, you have to hang out with a bunch of people before you can find a few that you click with. haha. But it will happen dont force it.

That's not what it seems like in my neighborhood.  LOL

It'll take awhile OP.  One of the "joys" of moving around.

I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.
  • I just laughed my face off. I'm so done with "live everyday like he deploys tomorrow" and "you go fight for world, I'll be home fighting for us" type bitty's.

I too, thought I met a friend... until we became FB friends (which a request was sent maybe after a 5 sentence exchange.. I should have known). Now I live with her obnoxious status updates which consist of constant cheer for her perfect life of exercise, weekend plans, amazeballs cooking skills...

"Breezy 30 mile trail run with the pooch!"

"43 mile bike ride with the handsome hubby- I'm BEAT!"

"Just signed up for a 100 mile run, no big deal- super excited!"

This huss has over 100 photo albums. How do I remove her from as my friend without being completely obvious... I can't, I know. I have blocked her status updates though. pheew. needless to say I'm still friendless. LOL

Better than whiny I'm so lonely posts IMHO. Just defriend her. Who cares if it's obvious? I delete people all the time.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • I have trouble finding military wives who don't have babies and/or kids! It usually seems to me like kids are abundant and lots of friendships are made that way.
