We took G in to the doctor (we were oot) on Friday. She had a temp of 103.4, ear infection and red throat (not strep). We got a rx and her fever went down. Since then she's been fine in the daytime but has been waking up in the middle of the night screaming. She slept in bed with us while we were OOT and I noticed when she woke up crying/screaming her eyes were still closed. It was like she was still asleep.
Anyway-shouldn't her meds have kicked in by now? We are giving her motrin every 8hrs or so too. Has anyone tried the ear drops? And where can we find them?

Re: Ear Infection Question
The numbing ear drops, right? Not the antibiotic ones I assume, which I'm pretty sure only work on kids w/ tubes. The numbing ones are still Rx I think. Make sure you ask for the generic b/c the brand name are crazy expensive. If you place a call to the office they'd probably just call you in some. That said, you might want to have them take another peak if she doesn't seem to be improving? Were you able to get into a pedi OOT, or was it a walk in? Adam finds that often walk-in clinics prescribe drugs that aren't very effective against ear infections for kids (they tend to give out the stuff that works better for adults).
If she has another really rough night, I'd probably see if she could be checked out tomorrow. If you'd rather just give the drops a try, just give the office a call and see if they'll just call you in some. They aren't fabulous though, at least for our girls. The numbing effect only lasts for a little bit and then the pain is back.
For us we would just use it in conjunction w/ motrin, so that they had some relief before the motrin would kick in.
good luck!
