I'm almost positive he's getting his molars in. The doctor told me (on Sept 7th!!) that the top right was "very close"- of course, it's still not through. I can feel/see bulges on the others too.
He's not (very) whiny during the day, and when he wakes up at night he goes right back down if we give him a drink of water and rock him for a minute. BUT, I need some sleep damnit! lol.
I don't know what to do with him in the middle of the night. I don't want to create bad habits (again) but I also hate to just let him cry if he's woken up due to teething pain. He will NOT let me put orajel in his mouth and I hate to dose with tylenol if that's not the cause.
Thoughts? WWYD?
Re: BR: He's waking up 4x/night again!
I would at least try the Tylenol or ibuprofen for one night to see if it makes a difference.
I'm sorry, I hope he gets back to normal soon!

we are in the same boat--we orajel and motrin her and rock her--nothing else works.
ETA: we have been up twice a night and we have been getting her out of her crib CIO is too painful right now. Normally it works for her.

I should've mentioned that we have tried it... it seems to help in that he only wakes up twice, but still. I guess my issue is that when he wakes up it doesn't seem like he's in pain- just that he's awake, ya know?

Me too. I would even give it to him when you first put him down in hopes that he sleeps for a longer stretch in the beginning.
As all things, this too shall pass.
Ugh, I'm sorry.
Although, if you are in the same boat then maybe it can just be chalked up to molars?
This sucks!

I am hoping so we tried to go away for the weekend--RELAXATION FAIL!
Plus she wouldn't eat hardly anything but drink milk--which leads to a whole other set of problems for elle.

This. When he is waking up? Ibuprofen lasts longer so we do that at night. Trying giving :30 mins before bed and see if it helps. If you give when he cries it will take about 30 mins to take effect, kwim? So that's why we give it before bed if we know she's teething (like if she had a bad day/night before)
Have you tried the hyland's teething tablets? Those really do help us. And they make orajel already on cotton swabs that could possibly help get it back there.
We do dose when she is in pain with tylenol / motrin. If it helps her sleep then yes. But we don't over do it. We wait to see if she wakes up in pain (since she does sleep well normally) then give her meds.

Last night DH put him to bed at 845. He woke up at 1042, 1256, 345, and 620.
"Normally" he would sleep from the time we put him to bed until 730 then wake up, nurse, and sometimes fall back asleep. However, for the past 2 weeks he's been waking up at least once through the night.
Morrigan, I have no issues giving him meds if I know he's in pain... but that's the thing... he goes back to sleep so easily, and he's not fussy through the day- so how do I know that he is in pain? I don't. And so I hate to give medicine.
Hylands didn't work for us last time I tried, but I'll have to look for that orajel. Putting my fingers in there is like feeding a shark.

Have you heard of those amber teething necklaces for babies? I have never needed to use them but I have several friends who swear by them.

Neena has worn one for the past 4 months and I really do think it has helped.

I may have to go check those out. We have a local shop that I'm pretty sure carries them... it can't hurt!

Evie wears one on really bad teething days too. It really does help!
