anyone taken a STOP class in Sarpy county?

I'm sooo grossed out... I got a speeding ticket this morning (to the tune of $198) for going 30mph in a 15mph school zone.  Ugh.. I have never had a ticket or anything in my life.  What can I expect at this?  I'm scared... I am not a criminal!! Sad

Re: anyone taken a STOP class in Sarpy county?

  • I took one in Douglas so not sure how different they are. It is not fun but you will survive. Mine was 8 hours and I did 2 night classes. I think other counties are only 4 hours. Our lady made you say what you were there for and what you have learned. Then they had this book they went through about the common reasons people get pulled over and at the end you had to take a test but she gave you every answer. It was boring but just bring caffiene and you will be fine.
  • Jon took one a year ago in Bellevue and it was fine. He said the instructor was a cop and was super cool.  You aren't there with murderers and such, just others with a lead foot like yours.  ;)
  • HAHA okay I don't mean to laugh because I had to take the STOP class twice in less than 3 month period luckily Douglas doesn't report to other counties or I wouldn't have gotten away with my "rolling" a stop sign in Cass County LOL.  But I have experience at both and the Sarpy County one is definitely the better option(man I sound like a major violator of motor vehicle laws). And not on your insurance is better than on...the class actually might cost close to what your ticket is so you have to weigh what it does to your license points/insurance.

Usually a retired or current cop who likes to talk about what they have experienced and who is all in there wants to question them on why they got caught and how so and so did this and got away with it is what I have experienced.  Definitely bring some caffeine and snacks but don't get caught with cell phone or doodling...people got in trouble one class with that and he almost kicked them out!

  • I haven't had to take one in Sarpy, but have in Douglas due to excelerating though an intersection when a light was turning yellow.  The class wasn't too bad except I got a bloody nose during the class, how embarrassing!

  • I took one in Sarpy that was in Old Town Bellevue..it wasn't bad..just BORING!  It got out early..that's the only part I remember:)  No one makes you feel bad, don't worry...
  • Bring your mace, and some hand sanitizer.
