I have a friend moving to the Raleigh-Durham area and looking for advice on what area to live in. Any tips?
Re: *nursecheryl*
Well where should I start?
Are you going to ever come visit her? I would love to meet you if so.
We live in the Southpoint mall area (Southwest Durham). We actually really like it here because its a good central location. I wouldn't suggest North and East Durham) It can be a little ghetto-ish there. Durham is a huge town and has some really nice areas and some not so nice. About 10 or so minutes from RTP (Research Triangle Park). Southpoint mall is a huge really nice mall with in and outdoor shopping and restaurants. There are also several other shopping centers close.
Cary and Apex are also great areas. A little more expensive area and good schools. Depending on the area and traffic about 10 or so minutes to RTP.
Raleigh/ Wake forest areas are also nice but depending where you work may be facing lots of traffic. You also get more for your money housing wise.
Chapel Hill/Hillsborough/ Carrboro area is also nice. More expensive area and great schools. About 20-30 minutes from RTP.
Where are they going to be working? In RTP (Research Triangle Park)? Chapel Hill? Raleigh?
Feel free to give her my email address I would be happy to answer any questions. My email: cheryl@schembariweb.com

We are about 3 hours apart, maybe a few minutes more. I'm right by Virginia Tech.
I know I'll head to Charlotte before too long for an Ikea trip, but that's not really that close.
We could always meet halfway, like Martinsville/Danville, Va and eat. And Mrs. Jaay can come-she's the same distance from there that I am, if not closer!
