ETTM: leggings

I'm hoping that you legging wearers can explain the appeal of leggings as pants to me. I honestly don't get the appeal and I'm never going to wear leggings as pants. I'm genuinely interested in hearing this argument.

I wouldn't wear leggings as pants. I think only super skinny girls can pull this off (if anyone can). But, I think it can work more as tights, like w/ a sweater dress or really long sweater.

Yeah, I'm still not down with this:

I'm ok with it as footless tights (like in the far right picture below), but the picture above makes me eyes hurt.

Yeah, I don't like it when they do it like this. If you're going to wear leggings, at least have the top cover your butt/crotch.

I hate hate HATE this! Seriously... Apparently I even make a face specific to this look because my H always asks, "Is someone wearing leggings as pants again?" HAHA. Cover yourself... mid-thigh is the least coverage I'm willing to accept when I see women wearing leggings. So glad I'm not the only one!

Exactly. Bottom pictures fine. Top unacceptable on any body. If people can see your p*ssy or butt crack, there is a problem.

ditto - I only wear them with long dress/shirt type things (like the blue top I posted the other day)

Yup - leggings are ONLY ok when worn with a short that covers 90% + of your tushie. Leggings MUST only be worn with tunic/short dresses, etc.

ditto this and the pictures above........with an exception for gym/work out clothes- and those are the ones that cover at least 90? percent...not necessariy all of your butt.

I know I'm in the minority here but I actually like all of these looks. If I had nice legs and s$$ I would wear leggins just like that. But as it stands I wear leggings with short dresses/sweater dresses with boots b/c my booty is ALL over the place. Also, the top look is DH's single favorite fashion statement of recent years. He comments on how much he loves that leggins are "in." One of his favorite things on me are my yoga pants with UGG's and a sweater.

DH likes this too and always wants me to wear "spandex," but this is b/c he's a pervert and knows nothing about fashion.

My rule with leggings is crotch must be covered, which therefore means booty is also mostly covered.

I love leggings though, my favorite fashion EVA. well, not really. but the comfort is amazing. I'm wearing jeggings today .

I have only worn leggings as pants once outside of the house... I was cleaning out my car one day and realized my tabs expired over 3 months earlier and freaked out and drove right to the DOL, then had to go to emissions as well. I wasn't paying attention and went to the store too - not realizing I had crazy hair and leggings as pants. I was embarrassed...

this.. i'll be honest though, i wish i was skinny enough to make it look cute, lol.

and btw uw, you could be adorable in them, but i love pants too.. when outside, when inside, no pants, thanks!
