Dyson Vaccums

Tell me about yours. Do you love it? Where did you find the best deal? How does it compare to your "before" vaccum?

(Yes, I know this has been asked, and I apologize for not paying better attention.)

Re: Dyson Vaccums

  • LOVE it.  We used a 20% off coupon at BBB with our wedding gift cards.
It easily picks up 3 times what our old one did.  we vaccuum frequently and are still amazed how much it is picking up.

  • don't have one, but my MIL was able to get extra savings through either Lowe's or BB&B's price matching policies. They matched the coupon plus an additional 10% off.

  • YES I love it!  We have the Dyson Animal.  We got it for our shower but I know the purchaser used a 20% off coupon at BBB.  It doesn't even compare to our old vacuum.  3+ years and it's still kicking ass.

We have 3 cats, so we needed the Animal version, and it really does it's job.  It's never had a suction issue or any problems at all.  I love the attachments (especially for cleaning our stairs and upholstered furniture).  If anything ever happened to our Dyson, I would be getting another Dyson.

  • Yes, love it.  We have the ball purple one.  I went to google shopping and at the time, Amazon was the cheapest.  They have been coming down in price, so isn't as bad.  I can't believe how much it picks up.
  • We have the Dyson Slim (which they don't make anymore, so I guess it doesn't help you too much).  I had it on our registry, but never got it so i ended up returning a bunch of other gifts that I changed my mind on and bought it with a 20% coupon at BB&B.  I love it.  We live in a 2 story condo, so the slim has served us well, and like Star mentioned..if it ever died, I would be running out to buy another.

  • Love it. The carpet always feels brand new after vacuuming. And it picks up an ungodly amount of stuff, even when you think the carpet can't be that dirty (like, if it's only been a few days since you last vacuumed).

We bit the bullet and bought ours last November. We got one of the "cheaper" models--it was $399, it's yellow and gray. I think it is like a DC30 or something?

The Bed Bath and Beyond coupons now exclude Dyson--so you have to catch a cashier on a good day, or they could refuse to let you use it. At the time we bought ours, she let us use it, but only because Home Depot was currently running a 20% off Dyson sale. So it was essentially like she price matched by letting us use the coupon.

We had Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards (cashed in our Discover Cashback Bonus points for them) to put toward the purchase so it was best for us to get it there.

  • LOVE IT!

Ours is as old as Zac + 9 months, and still works like we just bought it. I knew with a kid and fully carpeted house that I wanted a good vaccum so I went out and got one. Side note: we got a not cheap Bissell for our wedding and it sucked at sucking after a year.

Now we own the purple Dyson animal ball and got it from Kohl's. I have an Aunt who works there so I got her discount + a coupon + some Kohl's cash - great deal! That said, knowing what I know now I will never own a different type of vaccum and think it is worth what ever you need to pay for it, even if it's full retail value!

ETA: Everytime I vaccum I swear it sucks up an entire cat.

  • LOVE it.

We had a shark before and it was only a tad bit better than all our previous vaccums which sucks  because the shark was $199 and I previously paid $40-60 for vacuums.

I tried to tell H to go for the Dyson but he wouldn't listen. The shark failed us so many times it's ridiculous, but H just thinks he can fix it time and time again. I finally got him to agree to a Dyson* and I got one, but H says he doesn't remember agreeing.

Too bad, so sad H.   I refer to it as Dysongate 2010.

*He might or might not have been playing xbox. All I recall is him saying yes when I asked if we could  just get a Dyson.

Anyway- GL- I highly recommended it. It's worth every penny. I went to BB because we are reward zone members and I wanted the points.

  • Target is having a "clearance" on Dyson. I don't know what that means but I got the email ad this afternoon.

  • We have the animal and I love it.  But I also have a dog so a good vacuum is a must.  If I didn't have a dog I probably wouldn't have spent so much on a vacuum (well it was a gift, but I wouldn't have registered for such an expensive one).
  • Ditto everyone else.  I love it.

I got it as a shower gift from my grandma.  She got a great deal at Kohls.  We have the purple animal (without the ball).  It has great attachments (as Star mentioned).  I have plugged it into an outside outlet and used it to vacuum out my car as well.  Ours came with some sort of carpet cleaner attachment and I, honestly, haven't even looked at it since we got it.  I'm sure it's great too.  :)

It's very easy to clean out.  We have yet to have any issues with ours after 3 years with a dog that sheds like mad in the summer.

When we were living with my ILs for a few months (when we moved home) we used our dyson there.  They loved it so much that they bought one just a week after we moved out because their vacuum didn't even come close to what our dyson did for they carpet.

  • We don't have pets... but I shed a lot, does that count? lol. I really want one- our vaccum is a POS. I'm going to show DH these responses and cross my fingers!
  • I have the Dyson ball and love it. Best deal I could find was Black Friday at Sam's Club. Everyone was having deals on them that day- Lowe's or Home Depot had them for 30% I think. I just remember Sam's was the best deal I could find- it was better than BBB coupon. I would tell you how much but I never made a copy of the receipt and it is in my stolen wallet somewhere... :(
