This should be a good one. What is your most hated phrase?
Re: QOTD - Monday
When I was little, I used to get really offended by "Geez, Louise" since Louise is my middle name...I took it really personally for some reason, ha.
Now, I hate when someone will be upset with someone and say that they could kill them, or "I'm gonna kill her". I know its not meant literally, but it is always far too harsh a phrase for the situation.
besides the "business speak" ones that I think are universally hated except by those that use them, I really hate "that's what she said" or "i just threw up a little bit in my mouth."
Funny perhaps the first 20 times I heard it, but completely & utterly overused now.
this!
both "everything happens for a reason" and "things will work out soon" make me stabby.
i always want to reply with "really? and you know this how?"
I have responded by saying, "Really? What reason would that be?" I never get a good answer.
It is what it is...
this and 'it is what it is.'
this might be flame-able but I also get peeved when something bad/sad happens and people say, 'it is God's will.' That definitely does not make me feel any better.
All of these and on the "God's will" one - yes, peeves me also. God does not will or cause bad/sad things to happen but His "will" is that he can help people through these events. People think it's helping others to say that but it really only makes people angry at God (which is actually ok sometimes too) instead of supporting them. It'd be better to say, "He's there for you." Ok, getting off my churchy soap box
yes!!!! i agree with all other too.
i also hate "when one door closes....." when i was out of work that made me want to punch someone.
and "do you have the bandwidth to do this".....i am not a computer just ask me if i have time
"God never gives you more than you can handle"
Then what about mentally ill people or those with nervous breakdowns or people who commit suicide. Obviously they had a little more than they could handle!
My mom's infamous one was "on any given day" but, of course, I'll probably use that with my future kids too when they're emotional adolescents.
And why is "I'll ping him" so popular all of a sudden? Ping? Really?

I hate these too. I will correct people or pointedly ask, "Oh, did you get a DSM diagnosis based on IQ and adaptive testing to be qualified to say that?" (for retarded) or I simply tell people my parents are gay and I'm offended by the use of the term in a derogatory nature.
Stand up for something you believe in.
i just got e-mail using "circle back" and had to laugh!
