Anything different from the usual is always good!
Fill the house/room with candlelight, take a hot bath together, give him an oily massage, etc. that will definitely start things off nicely;)
To be honest, I don't think surprising him with a threesome is particularly a good idea, depending on his and your preference & comfort level with this. (Not that I'm saying it's a bad one, I've experienced a few.)
Maybe be more specific? What does he like that you know? Has he ever mentioned a fantasy you've never tried? Or better yet, do you have a fantasy you want to try on him?

Do you have an idea of what some of his sexual fantasies are? You could casually ask him about them, then go from there, depending on your comfort level. You could venture to an adult store and ask for some suggestions - the people there are used to questions about the product and devices they sell and can be very helpful in creating a wild bedroom encounter for you and your DH.
I also will caution you about the three-some, unless that is something you and DH have discussed, are OK with, etc. Plus, finding a woman who is willing as well as discreet can be a challenge.
