Dr recs for DH

The hubbs needs a checkup and an updated vx. Looking for a doctor in the midtown area, male. We're a pretty "natural" family, so someone who is open to that is a plus. I would like to stay away from UNMC Physcians...but if someone has a great Dr rec with them, I'm open to it....

TIA!

Re: Dr recs for DH

  • This isnt midtown, but Dr. Keasling (female) at Alegent Lakeside seems to be pretty "natural" from what I've experienced.  I really like her!

  • Am biased as I work for UNMC P (ps. ouch! what happened?! Sorry you evidently had a bad experience.) but I have referred friends to Dr. Andy Vasey & Dr. Joel Armitage. Dr. Vasey is at UNMC & Dr. Armitage is at Village Pointe. Both are really good guys & fine physicians.

My DH goes to Dr. Dave Stearnes, he is out west somewhere with Methodist Physicians. He really likes him. DH also works for UNMC P so didn't want to work with his Dr., that's all.

  • I recommend Dr. Kirti Gupta. She's at Alegent Health Clinic at 8141 West Center... several guys in the office go to her and really like her.

    Thanks!

It's more not wanting to deal with the billing department more than I have to. I go to the midwives at the Olsen Center and for 2 years I have been fighting with the billing department for overbilling, incorrect billing, and duplicate billing of insurance and us. I got to spent another 3 hours on the phone with them today to get them to actually send bills to BCBS before sending them directly to me-for some reason the billing department at UNMC has issues working with BCBS (according to both UNMC and BCBS....) Most recently I was billed for 2 appts with a high risk OB, which were not mine. In order to have them removed from my account I had to prove I was not in state (we were in VT at the time), instead of the billing department looking into it tmenselves.

Honestly, it's enough of a headache that if I hadn't delivered with the midwives already, I would probably change.

    Vent over, Sorry!

That is pretty horrible. Have you taken this up with Patient Relations? This is absurd & I would be furious. If you want me to help you find the right person to vent this to (aka a bigwig) I am happy to. This is awful & I'm sorry you have had to deal with all this.

I hope you like the midwives. I work with them (not in the same department, but I sit by them in the work room so I see them every day) and they are a delightful group of women.

Sorry about the nonsense, on behalf of UNMC P. Embarrassed Seriously though, I can send you a PM if you would prefer - you should NOT have to go through all this stupid song & dance... prove you were out of town?!! What the what?! Ridiculous.

  • Most of my family sees Dr. Paul Vana at Physicians Clinic in Regency off of Dodge.  He is a really nice guy and very laid back.  I don't know how 'natural' he is, but he has always given us what we need.  He is easy to get into see, and the wait is never long.  He is also very good about calling things in over the phone.
  • My DH sees Dr Rogers (Charles? Rogers) at the Physician's Clinic on 108th & Fort street.  He really likes him and has seen him for several years.

Dr. Rogers is great. I see his partner (colleague) Dr. Carol Stessman, but have seen Dr. Rogers on occasion when she is out. Great guy.
