Galveston hotel reccs

Hey ladies!  We're going to a wedding in Galveston at the end of October, and I'm looking for a place to stay.  I'd prefer to stay somewhere decent (not fancy, obvs) for around $90-100.  Any recommendations?

Re: Galveston hotel reccs

  • Hotel Galvez is my favorite hotel in Galveston, but I am not sure what the rates are.

  • rates will be lower in October... but I don't know how low.  where's the wedding?

    Hotel Galvez

    Tremont

    Harbour House

    San Luis

    Moody Gardens

    Hilton

i checked hotels.com and nothing under $100 is really anywhere i'd stay.  if you really truly need to stay under that, maybe stay at the best western in texas city?  some of those old low-budget hotels in galveston on the seawall are icky.

Yeah, all the ones you listed are pretty much always above $100, even in the off-season. Though those would also be my recommendations as well.

There's a La Quinta on the Seawall that isn't too bad. And I think there is some kind of Holiday Inn Sunspree that's OK, too.

To the OP, you might try pricelining a 3 star....you might have luck with that.

  • ooh VERY good idea with priceline.
  • I did Travelocity Top Secret Hotel pick 4 star on Thursday last week and got lucky. It came up as Hotel Galvez for half the posted cost. If you choose a 3 or 4 star, I think you will get lucky. Besides the nice ones pp have listed, I think many of the named hotels on the seawall are fine. La quinta, hilton, holiday inn, best western. Some for sure are stay aways though but you can generally find reviews and photos online anyway. That time of year, it would probably be cheap to get a condo, maybe through VRBO.

  • Thanks so much for the suggestions!  I did the Travelocity thing like davidandheather suggested and was able to book Hotel Galvez for $83.  I am so excited!
