Hey guys! I'm still lurking around, but haven't been too crafty unless you consider putting in ~200 sq ft of tile! Our kitchen is finally finished & I LOVE it!
Before (to refresh your memories: I decided that I couldn't take it anymore after one of the drawers literally fell apart in my hand one night)
During: (looking towards the back yard- not sealed or grouted)
After:
The floor is autumn honed slate & it is so beautiful. DH & I put it in ourselves over about 2 weeks. We have agreed that in the future it will be worth it to pay someone else! My OCD/type A personality & his laid back non-perfectionist personality really dont mix well on projects like this.
During all of this craziness, I was "promoted" at the shelter where I volunteer to volunteer manager for an adoption center and took in a tiny little foster kitten at 4 weeks. (she went to her forever home last tuesday!)
I told DH that now I want to do something FOR ME! He said I can redo the office into a craft room if I want so that we can have the dining room back.. Now I'm collecting ideas.
Oh yea.. and...
My dog weighs 24 lbs! lol. I cant believe I was carrying her around everywhere.
Re: Finally! F/U to my kitchen floor.. PIP (& other random updates)
looks amazing!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the floor. We have Idian Autumn Slate as our backsplash, and I get so many compliments.

Great work!
Tile work is one job I avoid. Sure, I'll help install a 16' garage door while 5 months pregnant, but ask me to help do tile and I'm suddenly busy. :0)
The tile looks great. Laying that pattern would definitely bring out my perfectionist tendencies, too.
Where did you get your cabinets (which brand)? They look similar to mine. I've been looking to add more on the other half of our kitchen. However, I can't find them anywhere.
Newlyweds since 2007
the pattern was a necessity of non of our walls being straight or square.. very good camo to go at 45*
Was a total PITA to cut each edge piece though.
I got the cabinets from lowes, they are shannendoah brand, natural maple, shaker style. I know that other companies can make them, but I guess they're not too popular b/c I didnt see too many samples of it.
Thank you. Everything looks great together. Nice work!

Wow! What a lot of great news in one post. The kitchen looks amazing. What did you do for the counter? How do you like the undermount sink?
Congratulations on the weight loss!
the counter is "hi macs" from lowes.. we were originally going to get laminate b/c our neighborhood is mostly starter homes, but the solid surface was only $400 ish more & I think I've already gotten that much enjoyment from it.
undermount sink is SOOOOOOOOOO awesome! I can't believe I lived without it for so long. it is def on my deal breaker list for future kitchens now.
