Spinning

Who has tried it? What did you think?  I know it is a work out and I know it is rough the first few times.  A friend of mine wants me to go.  I should go but am having trouble getting the final motivation to sign up.  It is at the Y we belong to so no added cost.  I am just worried about being sore the next day and not able to function at work the next day.

Re: Spinning

  • I love spin! It takes about 3-4 workouts to get your bum area used to the seat. My reccomendation for a first class is to not hike up your resistance super high. That will help with your soreness. Also, try to sit further back on the seat, it will give you more power with your legs. You will be sore, but not the OMG I lifted weights for the first time in 3 years kind of sore. It is definitrely worth a try!

Oh, and definitely bring a water bottle and a sweat towel. You'll need them!

  • Ditto everything Elisha said! I do spin once a week and I really enjoy it. It definitely take a couple weeks to get your lady parts used to the seat, prepare to be more sore there than in your legs the day after! You control your resistance so just ease into it - don't feel like you have to be a rockstar your first time.

I probably wouldn't wear shorts, and definitely not a baggy shirt. You'll want to make sure that it doesn't get in the way if you're doing any jumping. Make sure you get to class early - let the instructor know it's your first time and they can set you up on the bike correctly.

Give it a shot - it's free!! Let us know how you like it!
