Shes here! (Birth story and PIP)

On Wednesday September 21 I gave birth to our little Natalie Rose Smile I have posted on here a few times about being on bed rest in the hospital due to pre-e. After being in the hospital for a little over 4 weeks, my protein levels started to rise again and my BPs were also starting to read high again as well. My OB came walking in around 6 pm on monday looked at me and said "well are you ready to have a baby?!" I was not expecting that and was excited, happy and nervous all at once. I was moved down to labor and delivery to start the induction process around 9 pm and they inserted cervadil to help ripen my cervix since I wasn't dilated at all. The cervadil was inserted around 10 pm and I started having some light cramping throughout the night but nothing too painful. I didn't sleep much due to the nerves and excitement. At 10 am, they removed the cervadil and checked my cervix to find that I was 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced. My midwife decided to start me on pitocin and that was started at 11am and I ended up sleeping most of the day. I was woken up later with painful contractions that were right on top of eachother and I was only 2 cm dilated so they decided to reduce the amount of pitocin I was being given. I fell asleep once the contractions started to wear off a little only to be woken up at 4 am to a weird popping feeling and a huge gush. It shocked me so much that I jumped up out of bed and screamed that my water had broken. There was so much fluid that it made a huge puddle and when one of the nurses came in to help change my bed, she almost slipped in it. Almost right after my water broke, my contractions became much more painful and I ended up asking for the epidural because I couldn't deal with the pain. It turns out I was not dilated enough yet for the epidural so they gave me another pain killer to help me deal with the pain but it did not seem to help much. The next morning around 10 am after being in pain for almost 6 hours I was finally dilated enough to have the epidural. It seemed like the people took forever to get to my room to give me the epidural. It got to the point I was yelling at the nurse because I was so angry that they weren't there yet. Finally they showed up and almost as soon as they had the epi done, I felt almost instant relief. Ladies, if you are on the fence about getting an epi (especially if you are being induced) I HIGHLY recommend having it, trust me I don't think you'll regret it. Kudos to you ladies who have done or are planning on doing it natural!I spent most of the day Wednesday breathing through my contractions and the midwife was constantly coming to check on me because they were thinking since my water had broken that I would dilate faster which wasn't the case. However around noon, I was at 6 cm and they kept saying it could be at any time. It was around 5 pm when I was finally completely dilated and the midwife decided it was time to start pushing. I pushed for about 30 minutes and was having this splitting pain in my left hip. The pain got so bad that I told the midwife I couldn't push anymore and was in full tears. It turns out the baby was positioned on my hip and instead of trying to push down out of my birth canal she was pushing towards my hip. They had me lay on my stomach in a weird position in hopes that it would help her move but it didn't. My OB ended up coming in and re positioning her which I think was the most painful experience of the whole birthing process, they probably heard me screaming all the way through L&D lol. However, once my OB repositioned her it only took an hour or so more of pushing and she was here! Hearing those soft sweet cries when she was delivered was such a huge relief. She was born at 37 weeks 3 days completely healthy and is now home with us. Our sweet little Natalie Rose was born at 6:39 pm weighing 6 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long. You are all so sweet, thank you for thinking of me and our LO and for helping to keep me occupied while I was on bedrest Smile
