Once a month cooking

Does anyone do this?

I decided to try it out this weekend.  Here is where I found the menu. I have to say that spending a whole day in the kitchen was exhausting, but I think that I am going to like it.  It is nice to have so many things to choose from.

I may try to come up with my own menu or tweak the menu for next month, but it was so nice to not have to worry about what I want to make and the grocery list is already made up.

Re: Once a month cooking

  • I hadn't even heard of this before you posted it. I've been thinking about trying to cook once a week for the entire week, but I'm not even sure if I can do that. :P

This is pretty neat though...I'm going to read the blog and see what they've got.

  • I made a freezer stash of meals for when Piper was born that lasted us a full month. I just needed fresh produce and dairy items, otherwise we were set.

It really made life much easier.

  • That's such a good idea, but I don't know if I could do that, because cooking when I come home every night is actually relaxing to me.
  • oh Stephanie - you are hilarious. Smile

I can barely stick with a week to week menu - I am not going to dare to try a month long menu.

  • This is an amazing idea!  I was thinking of making lots of portions of soups, stews and chili for the winter, but this is a way bigger project.

  • That is a good idea. But I have a bad enough time coming up with a weekly menu. I don't know if I could pull off w monthly menu. But I could always give it a shot. It would free up sometime in the evenings. I'm glad it's working for you.

  • I commend you for doing that!  Holy moly!  I think if I actually liked cooking I might do that.  I have such a hard time finding things both DH and I will eat (he's so picky) and we try to eat healthy too.  I just don't see myself being in a kitchen that long - on purpose unless there was baking involved :)

  • I love this idea, but have never done it. When I was working, I tried to cook for a week at a time. It was so nice to have meals ready to go every day.
