Where to buy toddler shoes in Omaha?

I need shoes for the boys.  I've been to Caters and Payless with no luck.  I tried to order some cute shoes off payless online, but they didn't fit, and I really need a place locally where they can try them on and return easily.

Any suggestions?  Sandals were easy, but I've never purchased shoes before!

  • Stride Right or Scheels?  I used to get shoes at Target for the boys..
  • I go to Once Upon a Child.  I dont' buy sandals there but I will buy any shoes i know he'll wear socks with.  He has brand new Nikes for $6.50 :)

  • I've never heard of this Stride Rite place.  I shall google, thank you.

I also look at consignment sales, but rule #1 of multiples is to purchase matchign shoes. It's just easier that way.  Big Smile

yea, it's obscenely expensive. My kid has had extra wide feet and these were the only shoes that would fit him. Although his feet are now just wides so I'm super excited that I may be able to buy him inexpensive shoes soon! :) They do have BOGO 50% coupons sometimes. Sign up for their email list. Also, you can find Stride Rite shoes discounted online, I buy them from Piperlime, free shipping and free returns. Take them to the store to figure out the size you need and then order online. Also, check out children's place. There are some super cute shoes there right now and most are only $20 (and you can prob find a coupon for  20% off)

  • I have the best luck at the Super Target on 129 and Maple. The one closest to me is on 72 and that one blows.
  • Have you tried Kohl's?  We buy a lot of Elsie's shoes there.  They have all the major brands and Kohl's brand that are pretty cute.

  • Stride Rite shoes are fabulous and worth the money IMO-we have also gotten some at kohls too
  • Girl shoes are way easier to buy, with that said, I have only bought a couple pairs of shoes for B, one I bought at Gap and one at E's sale (cute Nike's).  I'm struggling to find ones that are functional and look decent, but Kohl's does have a nice selection of Nike's and their Jumping Beans brand.  I'm too cheap to buy Stride Rite.  ;)
  • Von Maur & Stride rite have the best Kids shoe selection in my opinion. After having two boys, they wear the best and are that much more
  • I'm waaaay to cheap to ever pay $46 for kids shoes!  The most expensive pair Evan had were his $17.99 Converse from Target.

Pretty soon the boys will be able to locate and match up their own shoes.  I wouldn't be hell bent on matching. But then again I only have one to dress and he picks out his own shoes every day. :)

  • I hit up BRU sometimes. I love their koala brand double velcro leather ones-they look a lot like the ones that you piped. I would try and link, but my phone is a PITA. They are great shoes, especially at twelve bucks!

  • I do buy a lot of stride rites, but I also get quite a few at Old Navy (usually on-line....can return at the store) and if they are on sale I will buy a few sizes and return the ones that don't fit....and Kohls. I just had a 30% off coupon and was able to get a pair of Nike's for christmas that were regular $37....paid $12 for them on sale + coupon!
  • For DS' main pair of shoes, we go to Stride Rite.  Yep, expensive, but I guess I'm convinced that it is worth it.  Thank goodness I can get away with really only having one pair at a time - his size changes approx. every 3 months at his age.  However, with the BOGO 50% off in July, I bought the current pair and his next size to get the second pair for a better price.  I imagine we'll switch to Scheels, Kohls, etc at some point for Nike/Reebok eventually, but for his little feet now, we go with SR.  Someone once told me never to buy used shoes for your kiddos, b/c the soles form to their feet.  Makes sense to me.  So, for me, consignment clothes = ok, but consignment shoes not so much.

For shoes that are not worn daily (i.e., his dress shoes, water shoes for daycare), we bought those at BRU and Target.

Yep. Your kid will be forced to walk based on the old wear patterns...so consignment shoes are great until they start walking :)

I can't tell you how many times I remember going to the SR store in Denver as a kid...and realize now that my mom must've spent a fortune on my shoes!

  • I get mine at Target, walmart, old navy, and journey. We do a lot of DC's as they are wider for H and cheaper than StrideRite. I watch for sales and buy many sizes.

  • I usually buy C's shoes at JCP with the $10 off coupons I get in the mail. They usually have a ton of shoes on sale for like $12.99 and with the coupon... well... they're so cheap that it doesn't even phase me that he wears them such a short amount of time :)

This. Tommy had double xw feet for a while (now just xw) and Kolbe wears an xw. If you have the ability to hit a stride rite outlet anytime soon, I suggest that :)

  • I buy pretty much all of Bethany's shoes at Big Wheels to Butterflies. I really can't see a need to spend so much on shoes that they grow out of so darn fast. That said my parents and my IL's usually buy her a pair a season to and they find them at Walmart or Kohl's.
  • Von Maur and Target are my favs!
