How do you get out of a bad mood?

I have no clue what's going on, but for no reason I've been in a really bad mood since yesterday.

I feel very short tempered and like I'm irritated with everyone. 

I hate feeling like this! What do you do to get out of a bad mood?

    sleep or eat. it comes down to the basics....if i'm not getting what i need, i get cranky!

    Hummm, but I just ate a handful of pretzels and I went to bed at 9:30 last night. 

    I wonder if it's the weather that's making me cranky.

  • I like to just get outside and walk...far.  And alone.  It's best if I can get out of the neighborhood and hit a trail somewhere, but sidewalks do just fine in a pinch.  The exercise and fresh air help physically, and a long walk also gives me an opportunity to A) mull over whatever might be bothering me, B) pray (if you do that), and C) start to focus on all of the positive things I have going on in my life.  And if I feel like there aren't a ton of positive things going on...then I focus on things like the fact that I'm physically able to walk when others can't; I can see the beauty of nature when others can't; I can hear birds chirping when others can't.

  • I'm in a bad mood also since later yesterday. Yesterday it was just from frustration today it's from The bill I'm afraid PSE might send us for something that's not our fault. I want some ice cream or something but that won't happen :( besides that it depends on my bad mood reasoning if I can snap out of it or not.

    9:30 is sooooper late in my book! 

    as for the food, it usually has to be "real" food...something meaty (protein).

  • When I'm in a bad mood I try to focus on something that makes me happy.  For me it's looking over wedding/honeymoon photos, walking my dog, planning out what restaurants I want to go to for Seattle Restaurant week, online shopping/browsing, and eating whatever treat/snack I've been craving.

    Hope you can get over your funk soon!

  • I noticed that I have to eat something with protien, plain carbs do nothing for me when Im cranky. A few days ago I was in a terrible mood and super stressed. So I sat down in a comfy chair with a snack (protien), a cup of tea, and a book and turned off my cell phone for an hour. It let me calm down and take a breather, and my body had a chance to relax and get some nourishment.
  • Be alone.  Curl up on the couch, glass of wine, ice cream?  Although real food, like chicken and mashed potatos is better.  I also like to take a long, HOT shower.  Or maybe a long drive w/ loud music.

  • For me it's taking a nap. I get cranky when I'm tired, even if I got enough sleep the night before.

    If it's not possible to take a nap, I listen to music I can sing a long with. Something about singing helps me get out of the bad mood. 

    Otherwise, you could always punch someone in the face. I know it'd make me feel better. Too bad consequences stops me from actually doing it. Stick out tongue

    i feel super irritated since sunday. i don't know what my problem is. all i can think about is that i have vacation coming up so it makes me happy.

    These things work for me: hiking alone, going somewhere interesting to take pictures, journaling (esp. if there is something on my mind), baking, watching an indulgent show/movie (bonus if paired with chocolate and/or wine), eating something healthy and crunchy (carrots, apples, or juiced vegetables), working on a project (something creative, or a small complete house project), window shopping, going to a coffee shop and people watching, reading a book (bonus if chai or coffee is involved), spend time with a friend, a good workout

  • I try to think about what I need to make me happy. Usually just and expresso and a cookie cheers me up, sometimes it is a work out, sometimes it is a good night sleep. Sometimes I need to tell myself to just quit being a sour puss.

  • My bad moods are from one of three things:

    #1  Crazy person. Solution - get away from crazy person

    #2  Cabin fever. Solution - exercise and get re-energized. Go somewhere new. Get out with friends and laugh.

    #3 PMS. No solution... I just know I'll be in a bad mood, in pain, anemic, clumsy and zombielike for the first 2 days.

    I hope you are suffering from #2... because #1 and #3 both come in cycles!

  • You know what else solves a bad mood? Home made cheese cake! My mom just called and she baked one today, H is stopping by their house on his way home and I'm going to destroy that thing. Get in my belly, cheesecake!
