Need info on flying RyanAir

Ugh, I loathe RyanAir but am forced to fly with them.  What do I need to know?  Meaning: How are they going to try and screw me?

I'm a non EU/EEA citizen so I know I need to go get stamped at the check-in desk, even though I'll already have checked in online.

Be strict about luggage size and weight.

What else do I need to know?

Re: Need info on flying RyanAir

  • Are you checking any bags? Because if you are, don't.

Really, as long as your carry-on bag (you get 1, including a purse) can reasonably fit into the tester cage thingy, it's fine.

Board as early as possible or you may not have room to put your luggage in the overhead bin, and you might end up with it at your feet.

Bring headphones because they advertise crap frequently.

As much as I hate RyanAir, they have never crashed a flight while I was on it, and that's really my only criteria for flying with someone.

    Where are you going?

  • Get your boarding pass stamped.

Don't go over the luggage restriction and only have one piece of luggage, including your purse. I've seen several people being forced to stuff their purse in their luggage.

Get there early and stand in line so you can get room in the storage bin.

Not for 300 kroner (?33) I ain't!  Hence my concern about carry-on luggage.

Confession: I do not, and never have, and probably never will, own an iPad*.

Looks like we're taking a fabu trip to Sicily, because that's what unemployed people do.

*ETA: iPod.  See, I don't even know what the hell it's called.  I don't do Apple products.

  • Hey man, I just said to bring headphones. I didn't specify that you should bring anything to plug them in to.

  • You can't have a purse AND a carry on, fyi.

From the Ryanair website, "Ryanair?s generous free cabin baggage allowance, of 10kg per passenger, is restricted to one bag into which passengers must place all handbags, laptops etc."
