Re: Mums Bumps and BBTs

  • Please excuse the lack of paragraphing, I'm on my phone. Ups: Found out the baby is head down and I'm 1cm dilated. Baby will be coming sometime soonish :) I just can't believe I'm going to have an actual baby within a couple months! Downs: my back/hips are KILLING me to the point where many days I can barely walk. As a teacher this tends to be a problem. QOTW: we didn't do anything cute. I called them and said "I'm pregnant" pretty soon after we found out. Next time, if we are actually *trying* to get KU, we might have a little more fun with it. This time I was in too much shock to think of it ;) My parents only live 45 min away so I'd at least like to do it in person next time.
  • Morning!

    MsBini- You're so close!

UPS: I really can't think of anything special. I've been having fun knowing there's a boy in there. H and I have analyzed the scan and are pretty sure he has my nose. =)

DOWNS: Where do I start? This last week has been hard. I've been more stressed than ever at work, and I feel like I can't handle it. Literally, last Tuesday I walked in, sat down at my desk, and cried. Yup. Cried! No one was in yet and I pulled it together. But I think the combination of hormones and being so tired all the time makes me less able to cope with things I'd normally cope well with, and that's frustrating.

Meanwhile, from one day to the next I went from feeling great, to physically finding it hard to do things like shave my legs or bend over to pick something up. I feel like an old lady. Sigh. That's how my week has been.

QOTW: We told his parents over and my siblings over Skype. Nothing cutesy, except for his parents we sent them a link to a "World's best grandparents" mug. We told my mom when she was in town. We got her a card and put the ultrasound picture inside, and wrote a little note from the baby to her.

  • Alls going well here :)

Ups: She's sleeping longer and longer stretches and we've got napps figured for the most part.

Downs: I'm really bummed about having to use disposables on our trip but we just can't take our CD's :( lets hope we don't get any blowouts because she's not had anything like that in the past two and a half months! I think I'm just going to bring more clothes for her than we would normally use.

QOTW: We had both sets of parents over for drinks, then dinner. Maddy wore a tshirt saying that she's going to be a big sister. My dad didn't make drinks so we got him to call my sister at dinner and she told him. (She lives in the states and wanted to be part of it).

  • Good morning!

Ups: W is settling well into nursery school. It's difficult to get much out of him about what he's done, but we've had no tears going in  (just some going out about not continuing to play). M has words. She's got maybe four? And she's cruising and walking well with our hands. She's not stable enough to balance, but I honestly don't think she's too far away. So my non-crawling baby is moving around! Oh, and we have teeth - 1, maybe 2 (if she'd let me see). It's all happening here!

Downs: ALL she wants to do is be on her feet. It gets tiring, and difficult to play with W. I'm also sad that both W and I are missing playtime with just us two. We used to at least have M's morning nap, but that is now after he goes to school. I'm trying to figure it out, but at hte mo our schedule is up and get-ready time, school, lunch, nap, and then both are awake and cranky in teh run up to dinner. I might try pushing W's nap back a bit while M naps, but it's tricky as sh'es not napping well right now - or sleeping well, thanks to the teeth. She's back to napping a lot on me in the afternoon, while W naps (which would mean my plan wouldn't work so well...)

QOTW: With W, we just said with my mom and dad, 'maybe you don't want to come visit us in April (when they'd been planning it), but would want to come a bit later in June/July. They didn't quite catch on and thought we just didn't want them to come! With M I cant' remember. I don't think we did anything cute, just let them know.... :)

    Mum to W (4) and M (nearly 2)
  • All's going well here. No big news in either direction.

QOTW: My EDD with Bean was my parents' anniversary, so I called and told them they should spend their anniversary in Denmark. I said it was a special day here too, and Mom tried to guess what it was ("is it the queen's birthday?" etc) and I kept saying, "no, more local than that" until finally she was like, "Oh just tell me!" lol With Bug, we were on Skype she was asking me about when during the summer she should come visit us. I said "I was thinking maybe fall would be better."

Ups: Found out the baby is head down and I'm 1cm dilated. .

I haven't even had an internal yet!  Wow, that's crazy you're already dilating (I mean, I know it happens some before labor begins, but I didn't think this soon!).  When I went in for my 32 week appt I know baby was also head down back up, but she has been moving around a lot and I know she didn't just stay in that position.  Hopefully we both end up with head down babies!  We are SO close!

Ups:  I'm finally over that horrible cold I got last week and my mom gets here next Tuesday and is bringing lots of goodies for baby!

Downs:  There really aren't any at the moment.  :D  Oh, I am still struggling to choose which hospital to deliver at (I know, very late in the game) but I think I'm coming to a decision.  It just sucks here that you are only allowed one person with you during labor...I'd really like to have my mom  there as well.  Oh, well.

QOTW: I did something similar as bugabean.  My parents had been planning to visit in the summer and I told them over skype I thought it'd be better if they come in the fall so they could meet the newest grandbaby.

  • Ups: So far so good.  I have been feeling pretty good (baby wise). We have out NT scan next week, so I am praying everything goes well and hopefully I will relax a bit more after seeing baby again.  I hate the not feeling anything part- it makes me too nervous!

Downs: I have a sinus infection and its killing me.  I get them this time every year when the seasons change, but the doc doesn't want me to take anything just yet.  The sinus headaches are awful.

QOTD: We told everyone over the phone after our first scan when we saw the heartbeat.  Nothing cutesy.  I imagine if they were closer we would have told them in person.

  • Ups: He is starting to stand by himself for short periods of time.  We put together his walker toy this weekend and he's used it a few times.

Downs: He has one tooth coming in so he's a little extra cranky.

QOTD:  We told both of our mothers over Skype.  We said we were coming home to visit in August because the 'three' of us wouldn't be able to make it home in December.  My mom figured it out right away, my MIL took a little while longer.

  • LadyMadrid: They wouldn't normally have checked but they thought I might have a yeast infection so she wanted to check for that. Otherwise I'd probably have never known! Actually she was also concerned my water had broken once she looked, but it hadn't, whew. (Oddly I mentioned the dilating to my mom and she said she was a little dilated early when she had me, and thought that meant I'd be born early, but I wasn't.) As far as the head down thing, I know he might not stay that way but I hope so :)
  • Ups: DD can stand by herself now. She?s gotten better at balancing and can stand for half a minute maybe before she needs something to hold on to. I think it won?t be long before she?s walking. She cruises on the furniture some. More teeth on the way, too. That?s eight already and a couple more on top working on coming in, maybe on the bottom, too. It?s so hard to tell for sure, though.

Downs: Napping is falling by the wayside. She has given up taking two naps and takes only one if I can get her down...

QOTW: I don?t really remember much about it. I think I told my mom that I couldn?t really stand the smell of coffe and then she figured it out.

  • Ups: M is starting to write letters and drawing faces. It's so cute.

Downs: He has been testing us at bedtime - I', hungry, read this book... not this book etc... I want a blanket... no I don't want a blanket and so on... I hope he gets over this phase soon. It really annoys me!

QOTW: We waited 3 months to tell which fell around xmas. We ordered plants and had them sent to both sets of parents with a note that said "Merry Christmas Grandma and Grandpa!" They loved it and both plants are still around.

  • Kids are good but typical kids so there are always ups and downs! They did play together yesterday after lunch for the first time. Like properly play with a game and not bothering me for almost an hour. It was so nice and so sweet. I hated breaking them up to put E down for a nap - she wasn't too pleased with that decision.

QOTW: With Bruce we told my family earlier than we would have liked because we were in the US and it was going to be our only opportunity to tell them in person before I was about 26 weeks and I didn't want to just show up to my sisters wedding hugely pregnant. That would have been weird! We told IL's a little early as well but again it was the only chance to tell them in person before it would get to the point to be weird to tell them so late. We gave them an Easter card that said "To Nana and Gada, Love, DH, Me and ?" and my SIL had to point out to them what that meant. They thought we were just calling them that becuase they already had grandkids  I guess.

With Evelyn we waited until I was past 12 weeks and had had that scan. We told my family on Thanksgiving. We had planned for DH to say "I'm thankful for my wife and kids" putting emphasis on the plural when we did the whole go around the table and say what you're thankful for. Of course for the first time EVER my family didn't do that so at the end of dinner when we were all sitting around talking and DH was entertaining Bruce he whispered to him to come over and kiss my tummy and he did and then everyone was yelling "Oh my gosh, why is he doing that!?" and got excited. With DH's family we told them around 15/16 weeks when we flew over for Christmas. Our Christmas cards said "From Me, DH and Big-brother-to-be Bruce" and we handed them one and said "What do you think of these?", MIL glanced at the picture and was like "Oh, cute" and FIL read it and was like "Wait, what does that mean!?" haha.

Hi all how is everyone? Ups? Downs?

QOTW: How did you/ how will you announce your BFP to your family? Would you of done it differently if you lived near your family?

Good afternoon ladies.  We just got back from a play date with some friends.  Ahh, such a lovely morning/early afternoon.  I love that Leo and her little boy get along so well.

UPS: Dh (finally) got his passport so we're going back to the States for Christmas.  Aside from my mom and dad, no one in my family has seen Leo since he was 14 months and no one has met Jax yet.  I am SO excited to go home.

Leo is doing well in pre-school.  There's not been that many tears and I am so thankful for that.  I am also really excited that he's no longer intimidated by other kids anymore and will now just go play and get involved.  He has such a good time too.

DOWNS: Leo is a lot more clingier to me now, which I think is a result of pre-school and also a result of me not being able to get involved with him as much now b/c Jax always seems to need my attention.  I feel terrible too b/c like welshgirl, I really miss hanging out with him.

Jax, ugh, he is cranky 90% of the time.  I have no idea why.  And seriously, he eats all the time.  Weeks ago we moved him on to a hungrier baby formula and that hasn't seemed to do much in terms of him sleeping longer.  He still, 98% of the time, eats every 2 hours and dh and I are exhausted.  I can't wait until he reaches the point of going for longer stretches between feeds.

QOTW: With Leo, my mom and dad were visiting us right before Thanksgiving.  We were out to dinner and they were discussing with us when they should come out again to visit.  They wanted to come over Easter and I said "I think June would be a better time" and they just kind of were like "oh, ok, but why June?" and when we told them they were SO excited!  Everyone else pretty much got told either on the phone or by word of mouth.

With Jax, my mom and dad were visiting over Christmas time and we told them that Leo had a new outfit that he wanted to show them and when he came downstairs he had on a t-shirt that said "Ooops, they did it again...I'm going to be a big brother".

  • Good afternoon ladies!

MrsBini- wow, that seems amazing that baby is getting ready for the world!

Ups:  26 weeks today!  I'm lovin the fact that the 3rd trimester is almost here.  Every day, I am more and more excited to meet our little guy!

Downs:  My hips are starting to bother me.  I noticed that for the past few days, I need to sit carefully, otherwise my hips hurt.  Today, at work, I had some back pain, and got nervous about pre-term labor, but then I shifted in my chair, and realized it was my hips that were causing my pain.  Fantastic.
Otherwise, today I am having a down afternoon.  I am sure its pregnancy hormones, but I am upset over a thousand details in our house (the one we haven't moved into yet.)   I was so upset about it, I had to leave the house, because I was so close to breaking out in tears.  I know that hormones didn't help in this situation.

QOTW:  We told my ILs right after we found out.  I love DH - we were all in Hong Kong going out to dinner, so we left the hotel, met them on the sidewalk, and DH just said, "Allison is pregnant."  I wanted to do something cutesy with my Dad, but because I wanted to tell him right away (in case of another ectopic pregnancy,) I figured it would be easiest just to tell him over the phone.

  • Ups: Passed my gestational diabetes test!

Downs: Still a daily struggle to fit everything in.

QOTW: How we told family about a BFP would have been different if we had been home, but I have no idea how.

    imageimage
  • Hi all how is everyone? Ups? Downs? Most days are ok, some days I have lots of energy so I do a ton of stuff that day. Then I pay for it the next day and do nothing, because I'm so exhausted!  My appetite is finally coming back, and at least food sounds good again.  Still have morning sickness, and I need to make sure I take my medication. Even then it still will randomly flare up.
QOTW: How did you/ how will you announce your BFP to your family? Would you of done it differently if you lived near your family? We were actually up there visiting so we told them all in person. Other than my sister who lives 13 hours away from my parents. I told her one day when we were chatting on the phone.

  • Hi Mouse!

Ups: It's cooled off ever so slightly :)

    Downs: It's still pretty warm.

We lived in Vancouver at the time of my BFP so told our families' over the phone. We're not very flashy so wouldn't have done it too differently. Maybe a nice dinner or something next time.

  • Hello ladies!  Hope everyone is well.

ups: spring is finally here for the week (back to rain next week).  Took DS swimming for the first time yesterday and he loved it.  He will also be going to his first rugby game on Sunday.  Go All Blacks!

downs: DS has been having what I think are nightmares at night, poor wee chap.  And also poor me b/c I have to get up and soothe him back to sleep, so I am tired.

QOTW: We didn't tell anyone that we were pregnant in the states till we showed up for our holiday (2 years since we had moved down under).  We were already 5.5 months along.  We didn't have any announcements, we let the bump speak for itself.  It was the best surprise stunt we ever pulled off.  Everyone was shocked.  I think we scared my mom b/c she didn't really know what to say for a couple days.  Don't think we could pull that one off again.  Next time it might just be a phone call :)
