One more question....winter wear for the crib
Last year we used the sleep sacks. Now that he's mobile and they don't make gigantic sleep sacks, I'm not sure what to do. We've got some blanket sleepers, but do you put pj's on under that like with the sleep sacks? He's a wicked thrasher in the crib like most babies I'm sure, so blankets will not stay on him. And our home gets pretty chilly in the winter. Any advice?

Last year I stuck him in a sleep sack even though he was mobile. He was still able to stand up and scoot around. I don't think he'd fit in it this year though, so I'm scratching my head too. Waht do you mean by a blanket sleeper? I think last year I did see some that had little foot holes for walkers and I was thinking we might try that this year. We also keep our house cold at night, so he needs something. Like this:

The boys room had no heat vent in it so it could get pretty cold in there if we kept the door shut... but they still were ok with sleepers with feet and sometimes socks if it was really cold... they had blankets in with them and sometimes on the cold mornings they would be snuggled up...
I don't like the sleep sacks because if they get hot sleeping they can't escape and have to stay hot and sweaty, whereas with blankets they can kick them off or cover themselves back up (which they do... just like we do in our sleep)

This was what came to my mind too.
I just got a pair of Beans fleece footie jammies and they are so nice. Obviously we haven't used them yet but I can't wait to.
We used sleep sacks on Helen until we moved her to a toddler bed at 2-1/2. We had the ones with enclosed feet but it didn't matter -- Helen could totally stand up and move around her crib even in the sack.
For winters in her crib, we put on a onesie, a blanket sleeper (aka fleece footie pjs), and a sleep sack. We also kept an electric programmable oil filled radiator in her room to keep it a little warmer than the rest of the house (we have our main zone programmed to go down to 55 at night in the winter).
