This week's questions:

1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

4.) Anything else to share?

SLACKERS- Don't forget to take a bump picture sometime this week for the BWB/BWLO PIP post on Friday! :)

Re: Babes With Bumps

  • This list is getting long. Very exciting!

1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

I'm feeling pretty good still. I have noticed I can't hold Alex as long anymore, which is a bummer. Heartburn is starting to be a big issue. I need to find something that will work to fix it since it wakes me up for a few hours more often than not now.

I had my one hour GT test yesterday. "No news is good news" so I'm hoping my phone stays quiet today. Thankfully my iron levels were good so no supplements needed this time around. I also got a flu shot for the first time in my life.

Also, the OB I love was my doc yesterday and she was telling me all the things they would do to help out with a natural birth and the things they will do differently based on my history. I feel so much more comfortable about the whole thing now.

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

Learn all you can about pregnancy and delivery, then go with the flow.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

I have no idea. I'm trying so hard to figure out something to do other than go back to my current job, but, I'm sure I'll end up back there. So, if all goes right this time, I'll have 6 weeks off (totally unpaid) and back to my current schedule of Tues Wed Fri. Mon and Thurs I'm home, Tues MIL will watch the girls, Wed they will go to daycare and Friday my mother will watch them. One of those two days off I'll have BIL/SIL's baby too.

    4.) Anything else to share?

I signed up for a BF class next month. Still on the fence, but I want to get all the info I can before making a decision. I have so many questions about all of that part.

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? Nothing new - still feeling good. I go on Friday for an ultrasound - my placenta was low-lying at my anatomy scan, and they want to make sure it has moved up and out of the way. I am excited to see Carter and see how big he's gotten!

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy? Listen to your body. People are constantly telling me that I am doing too much or I shouldn't be lifting that, etc. But, I know my body and I know my limits, so I do what I am comfortable with. And if my body needs a break, it tells me.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? I plan to be on maternity leave for 8 weeks - I will be home with Carter and Jack will still go to his babysitter's house most days. I am sure that towards the end of my leave I will keep him home with us or maybe even send Carter to the sitter's house a couple of days and keep Jack home so that I can spend some alone time with him. After maternity leave, I will be going back to work.

  • I don't have a bump yet, which is why I haven't taken a bump picture.

    This week's questions:

1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

I feel fine.  I'm lucky cuz I had mild morning sickness for about 2 weeks, but, that's it.  No appointments this week.

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

No burning questions right now.  My best friend has Irish triplets (the oldest one is 3 years older than the youngest, and then she has another baby in between the oldest and youngest).   I've asked her a bunch of questions.

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

     N/A

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

I'm a teacher, and I'm due March 21.  I'm going to take the rest of the school year off.  I'm not sure if I will return to work next fall.

    4.) Anything else to share?

My 16 week ultrasound is on Oct 5.
  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? I'm tired but other than that feeling pretty good. I see my OB on Thursday and then continue the Anatomy Scan with my MFM on Monday.

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy? Write down things & remember the "little stuff." I had a pregnancy journal plus a blog and I'm SO glad I did. I look back at them all the time and compare how I was feeling, etc. Believe it or not, you will forget the first day you felt movement (etc.) if you don't write it down.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? I should be able to stay home until the new school year (so about 6 months). I'm planning to send Nolan to my mom's house a couple of days a week to keep him in a bit of a routine/around kids. Once I go back to work, she will be watching all of them.

4.) Anything else to share? I'm dying to shop... come on Monday!! :)

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

No appointments this week, but start my weekly appointments next week. Lots of exhaustion, swelling is starting to settle in and not wanting to leave, seeing spots, heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, really bad lower pelvic pain (because she has dropped), the list goes on and on...

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

Not that I'm aware of yet, but we recently had our hospital tour, birthing classes, etc. We've decided that my Mom will be the only person at the hospital when I'm in labor. She will probably be in the room some, but not while pushing.

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

    N/A

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

The goal DH and I have is that I will be able to be a SAHM. If money becomes too tight, then I will begin to work again, either full or part-time. We are hoping this won't happen.

    4.) Anything else to share?

35/35 today and it's starting to feel real that LO is going to be here soon. I had my shower last weekend and while I got some great things, we are needing to buy a lot of things, and I hate spending that kind of money before LO comes, although it's necessary. I'm grateful for everything we got, but everything is pink or girly, and I'm going to return what I can for more neutral colors because I want to be able to re-use things if we have a boy next time. However, we have very few recipts, and people mostly bought away from the registry. I spent about $260 on Amazon last night buying things we need, and we'll be spending probably closer to $400 at BRU this weekend (still need car seat, matress, etc.).

I'm definitely becoming more emotional as I get closer to my due date. More anxiety, etc (which I know is normal). I was really good about keeping my emotions in check earlier in the pregnancy, but now they are getting more intense. I'm insanely excited to have a baby, but with that comes nervousness too!

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?  Feeling pretty good.  Kodi has been stressing me out quite a bit with his REALLY bad behavior which has been triggering many uncomfortable contractions, that's a little concerning and I'll bring it up at my next appointment.  No appointments this week.2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?  One thing I didn't do with my first pregnancy was research and plan out the L&D part.  I wanted a natural birth and just figured I'd wing it and tough it out.  I really wish I would have taken the time to research things like the Bradley Method and other natural birth methods, maybe even take a class.3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?  I'll continue to SAH.  My IL's will be in town for the first week to help out  but after that, I'll be on my own with Kodi and the baby.  Some day I'll start an Etsy shop on the side, but I've been saying that for years and I'm sure it'll be really hard to do with 2 LOs at home.

Aww, I wish I could give you a big hug!! As you know, everything you are feeling is normal, so just hang in there. It's very surreal when you get close to the end, because you've had 9 months of waiting and planning and all of sudden, BAM it's here and no matter how ready you are.....you don't feel ready. Trust that everything will work out fine Smile

  •  1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?  I'm exhausted. I am to the point now where I can't really do very much. I went grocery shopping and felt like I was dying by the end. I'm starting to having more contractions, too, which the doctor says is normal since my body is the size it would be full-term. I had my OB appointment this morning... everything looked great. My next appointment with her is in two weeks, then I start weekly appointments and NSTs... yikes! My next MFM appointment is Thursday.2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom? Not that I can think of right now... my biggest fears besides getting the babies out full-term, safe, and healthy are the dreaded double-whammy and then just being overwhelmed when both babies need something at the same time and I'm all alone with them. I'm also nervous about how hard it will be to BF them both at the same time when I'm alone.
2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? I don't have a job this school year so I'll keep looking for one, but will probably go back to work next school year.

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

I'm feeling pretty crappy most of the time.  The best I feel is actually the first few hours of the day.  It is a steady decline the rest of the day.  I am exhausted and feel sick most of the day. Apparently all food is gross, except for mac and cheese.  Go figure.

I have an U/S on Thursday to make sure I actually have a baby cooking in there.  I'll be honest, I am terrified of the appt.  I am so nervous that the news will be bad.  I have WAY more symptoms this time around, but all of my symptoms can be attributed to the progesterone supplements I am taking.  So, while I feel like things are going better this time, I am nervous it is all because of the prometrium.  I have planned on taking the whole day off on Thursday, just in case the news is bad.  I wish I could be more excited, but I am not.  I am hoping that after the appt on Thursday and if things go well, that I'll be more excited.

I wish nobody ever had to have a miscarriage, because it 100% completely ruins the fun of pregnancy, at least in these early weeks.

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

I am due at the end of the school year in May.  The plan is to take off the last weeks of school after the baby arrives, obviously.  My school year doesn't start back until the end of July, so I know I'll have at least a full two months off.  I am hoping that our finances will allow me to take off until after labor day.  The extra time off would be completely unpaid though, so we will have to seriously consider the cost.

    4.) Anything else to share?

Nothing else to share really.  If anybody wants to send some positive u/s vibes my way, I would appreciate them.

Really? Yikes. I can't decide if we should do this or not... I mean, we took the classes with N but I know multiples are different. Hmmm... Melissa, any insight?

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?

No appointments this week.  I guess everything must be going great with my pregnancy, because I think at this point I *should* be going every other week, but last week at my appt the dr. set for me to come back in 3 weeks.

I am getting pretty uncomfortable and having a lot of trouble sleeping.  For example, on Sunday night I think I got up 7 (!) times to go to the bathroom!  I'm trying to just take it in stride and remind myself that it's part of my body getting me used to getting up in the middle of the night!

I'm also having a LOT of pressure/pain on my pubic bone.  I try to explain it to Sam by saying that it feels like I have 50 lb weights hanging on my pubic bone.  It really bothers me at the end of the day.  At that point getting up from a chair hurts, getting out of bed hurts, rolling over hurts...it all just hurts!

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?

Hmmm...I'm not sure about this one.  I guess maybe just try to take it all in stride.  Yeah, there is a lot of crappy things that go on with your body during pregnancy, but it's SO worth it in the end!  And by that I don't mean that you have to ENJOY all the crappy parts, but just know that it won't last forever!

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

I'll be staying at home again after this baby.  That is the plan for us for a while.  We don't plan on me getting a full time job until all our kids are in school.  We may decide I need to do something part time before then, but if it comes to that we hope for me to just get a job at a restaurant or starbucks or something a couple of nights a week so that Sam can be at home with the kids.

    4.) Anything else to share?

We have less than 7 weeks until this little girl makes her debut!  I can't believe that it's almost time!

Still feeling pretty good.  I am much more tired than normal.  I think I fell asleep before 8:30 last night.  Other than that and bloat not really having any other symptoms. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way.  My first appointment is on Friday.  I am getting nervous as it approaches.

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

None that I can think of at the moment but I am sure I will have questions along the way.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?

Originally the plan was to take my maternity leave and then return to work but now with my current situation at work and not having any idea what my job situation will be at the end of my pregnancy I am just hoping that I have a job.

    4.) Anything else to share?

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? I think I may have had some BH contractions today, but I'm not sure. I felt pain/tightening in my stomach and also in my lady bits. No appointment this week, but I have to go in for my glucose test sometime next week.

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom? Ya know, I had a whole list of them in my head yesterday and then decided I didn't want to inundate the board with BR posts. Now I've completely forgotten them all.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? I had originally planned to take four weeks with no work at all and then slowly start checking email from home and have DH bring things home for me to work on. In an office of only four people, losing one is going to really stress them, so I am trying to do what I can to alleviate that concern. But now, I am thinking I will want to take more time with no work at all. I don't have paid maternity leave, though, so financially I may go back to work earlier than I'd like.

MIL would love to watch the baby, but with my two other nephews, I'd rather not give her an infant to take care of, as well. Plus, my nephews are completely spoiled rotten and I refuse to have her treat our baby like that. RE-FUSE. So I guess I need to start looking into daycare options. Since I work PT, I am hoping to arrange my schedule to work 3 days/week and have LO with a sitter the other two days.

    4.) Anything else to share?

Umm... I think I need to start a new post for this one.... see above.

I didn't sign up for it earlier because #1 I was scared and #2 DH didn't think we needed classes until he did a complete 180 and said he was being selfish lol. Since we're taking it so late, I wasn't sure if it would be worth it. Like they go over pregnancy nutrition and complications with twins which I obviously am kind of past but they supposedly also talk about vaginal birth and c/s with twins (important for me since I know birth with twins is different and now we won't have to go to two classes since we don't know what kind of delivery we'll have yet), taking care of NB twins, and BFing twins. We also get to tour L&D, Mother & Baby, and the NICU. I'm sure nothing is in great detail, but I hope it will be helpful.

Really? Yikes. I can't decide if we should do this or not... I mean, we took the classes with N but I know multiples are different. Hmmm... Melissa, any insight?

I never took a class and we managed fine.  I don't really know what they could teach you?  Every MoM I know does things differently.  Like when they both wanted bottles I would sit against the couch with the bouncy seats facing me and just hold a bottle to each of them.  Then burp one, then burp the other and back to feeding them.  At 3 weeks pp I was going to the mall with the girls by myself at least 2x a week, and then I have a friend who didn't go out with the babies (with her husband) until they were like 3 months old because they were scared.  You just gotta throw yourself into the situation to learn how to deal with it!

I could see how the class would be more beneficial for Colleen as a first time mom.  But if you know how to take care of one baby, you can take care of two...lol  Its just twice the work!!

Tiff- the BFing twins would be helpful but I am sure the lactation consultants at the hospital could help with that.  You've been BFing for over a year so I am sure you know what you are doing :-)

I also knew I was having a c/s so I never had to think about possibly delivering the twins vaginally and since I already had a c/s I knew what to expect.

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? Having some heartburn sporadically, but nothing bad. Felt the baby from the outside last week, but DH hasn't yet.

I don't have any burning questions, but am sure more will come later on down the line. I'm just looking forward to having some time to start planning day care etc.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? I'm planning on taking 12 weeks of leave - some paid some unpaid (have to burn my sick leave). I may go back part time towards the end but I'm not sure - it may be hard to do - so many variables at play. I would love to be a SAHM, but we can't really afford it right now.

4.) Anything else to share? I have a picture this week! Lol, with DH in town I could finally get one. I'll post on Friday, but not until I'm home from work.

  • YAY!! I get to be added to the list!! Big Smile

My name is Beth (swimmerette00) and my due date according to the bump's calculator is 5/29/12.

1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? I'm feeling pretty good. My boobs are sore, I have to pee a lot, and I'm tired. Although work has been crazy lately, so I'm sure that's a big part of the tiredness. My first appt isn't until Halloween.

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom? Not yet...still trying to let this all sink in!

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?
My due date is a week and a half before the end of the school year, so I'll probably just use my sick days for that last week or so and then I have off until the end of August. School starts back up the day after Labor Day and I will definitely be going back to work.

4.) Anything else to share? I think we're going to tell my parents this weekend. DH doesn't really want to tell his family early since his mom cannot keep a secret. Maybe we'll tell them after our first appt. I'm thinking about telling my two good friends early too, but haven't really decided when.

I'm definitely becoming more emotional as I get closer to my due date. More anxiety, etc (which I know is normal). I was really good about keeping my emotions in check earlier in the pregnancy, but now they are getting more intense. I'm insanely excited to have a baby, but with that comes nervousness too!

Awe, thank you katie! It is very surreal as you said. Thanks for your support!

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week? i'm feeling pretty good. still occasionally tired. but other than that, can't complain. Have been feeling baby move a lot more in the last week. DH is sad he can't feel him/her yet. Check-up on friday. curious to see what i gained

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom? n/a

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy? definitely keep a journal. I did with Evan and am so glad. i can look back at all the milestones with him. his first kicks, hiccups, etc.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH? i plan to take 12 weeks again. Unfortunately this time won't be paid fully as I didn't have as much time built up after having Evan. But we are just saving from now until then. Evan will still go to the babysitter his 2 days a week. I don't want to change his routine. After the 12 weeks i plan to return to work, which is nightshift. But i did promise DH once I come back I will start looking for a dayshift position, ideal position would be in a doctors office.

4.) Anything else to share? countdown to a/s, just 2 weeks away.

I already have my bump picture from sunday, i just need to remember to post it on friday!! i have so been slacking and there is a slight bump finally showing that is picture worthy

  • 1.) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or changes in symptoms you'd like to share? Any appointments coming up this week?  Feeling good overall, but starting to really feel pregnant lately... more physically tired with a sore belly/lower back/hips by the end of the day.  Lots of consistent movement though from the LO which is awesome :)

2a.) If you are a first time mom, any burning questions about pregnancy, L&D, life with a newborn, etc. you'd like to ask a veteran mom?

2b.) If you are a veteran mom, what one piece of advice would you give to someone during their first pregnancy?  Enjoy it & write everything down- like someone said (Tiff I think?) you'll be surprised at what you forget/can't remember for dates/milestones afterwards.

3.) What are your plans post-baby? Return to work (if so, after how long and who will watch the LO?) or SAH?  I'll be home for about 2- 2 1/2 months after she's born & then will be heading back to work to finish out the end of the school year.  She'll be going to the same in-home daycare that mads is at right now.  As much as I appreciated being able to be home with Mads for her first year, I learned that being a SAHM really wasn't for me.
