Tell me about Seattle

Hi ladies.  I am from the Houston board and trying to decide on a long weekend vacation in November.  Will you please sell your city as a vacation spot for me?  DH has never been to Seattle and I have only been once for work about 10 years ago.  Flights look to be really cheap from Houston to Seattle for the second weekend of November.

TIA for your input.

Re: Tell me about Seattle

  • It's going to be pretty rainy in November. Unless you're wanting to experience the Seattle rain I'd hold off till summer.
  • As a former Texan, Seattle is great! Sure the weather can be rainy and overcast, but that is what I love about it!

Big touristy things- Pike Place Market, check out the flying fish guys. Space Needle is always fun and I think the EMP is a good time. Little spendy, but it's cool.

Also, not too far from Seattle is Woodinville where there are bunch of wineries if you like that sort of thing. If you like beer, there is the Pike Brewing Company (Seattle). Sports- the Seahawks are fun as well as the Sounders. I don't follow the Seahawks (Go Cowboys!) but the stadium is pretty awesome.

  • Seattle is amazing.  But, if you've never been, I don't think November is the best time to come.  It will probably be cold, rainy and cloudy.  I still love it, but a summer trip may be better for someone who's never been.

  • Thanks for the info.  I did think about it being rainy, I noticed that November starts your super rainy season.  We are beginning to forget what rain is, so it might be nice to go somewhere with rain. Smile

  • i love seattle...but it's not a fantastic place to visit (esp in november). it's a wonderful place to live though....visiting is so-so. if you must visit, august/september is the best time to visit.

Well, if you're up for some rain, stay downtown and check out the Seattle Center (fun stuff for kids to do), Pike Place Market, the waterfront.  There are some museums too (to stay dry/warm) and lots of shopping downtown.  The prettiest parts are the water and trees/mountains, but not sure if you want to go hiking in the rain.  Might be nice to rent a car and explore.
