Anyone own a Tempur-Pedic?

DH & I were considering getting one.  Any reviews or advice?

Re: Anyone own a Tempur-Pedic?

  • Ever lie down on one? I did once, at a mattress store, and E had to haul me back off when I couldn't get up. People who have them purport to love them, but I have no idea how they get up in the morning. Or have sex. Also, I hear they hold heat, so of you prefer to be cool at night, ask about that and see it it's true.
  • We went to buy on one 4th of July and didn't, we ended up with a Comfort Pedic instead.

The reasons we voted against the temperpedic are

    1. They're hot! The temper part of the name is part of TEMPERATURE. They're heat activated and can get sweltering hot.

    2. The decent models are so soft that once they're heat activated, they're impossible to get out of and a pain in the ass to have sex on. Your hands and knees sink right in.

    3. We got more bang for our buck (price wasn't as inflated, but still cost the same as my first car) with the Seely's Comfort Pedic.

    Yes they do!!

I house sat for almost a year for someone who had one, it was great in the winter because it keep you nice and warm, but the summer...not so much.  It did take a little getting used too, but once I did I  thought it was very comfy and as for other things, it was a challenge, but you got used to that too. Wink

But that experience made my mind up that I would not be getting one.

  • We have one of the firmer ones and LOVE it!!!! I don't feel like it gets hot, but I'm also always cold, so I'm probably not a good judge there. I would seriously rank it as one of the best purchases we've ever made and I know DH would say the same. When he comes home from OOT, one of the first things he does is lay on our bed and go "ahhhhhh, I've missed this!" haha If only we could take it to China! :( Oh, and maybe it's because we don't have the super soft kind, but sexy time = no problemo!!! I recommend, but you won't know til you go lay on them! I went in thinking I would want one of the super soft ones and we left with one of the firmest.
