i need help deciding if i want it on saturday or sunday.....

i prefer sunday because a lot of my family/friends work on saturday. but saturday is enticing because i have lots of family/friends OOT. i don't expect any of the OOT to come (2 tops), but they've started asking about dates.

i'd rather have the OOT family/friends, since i see them a lot less but is the two people or so worth it to make it a saturday and have my friends/family that work on saturday miss it? i have about 10 that wouldn't make it if it's on a saturday (but i see them all the time).

sundays are generally more available for most people too, aren't they?

or should i make it a (edit: SUNDAY) and blow off my OOT friends, and "force" them to come after i have the baby instead? FWIW, the OOT family (that i would expect to come) are all in california...so it'd be a 3-4 hour flight tops.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought that baby showers aren't a norm in Asian circles?

I could be totally wrong, but I guess I wouldn't expect OOT people to come regardless of the day - if I was an OOT person I'd rather save the trip for when I can see the baby. Unless you know those people really want to come (in which case maybe they would figure out a way to come Sat), I would do the one where more people can come. Also, how come OOT people can't come on a Sat? If they fly Fri night, I would think it's easier to do it Sat and go home Sun... but maybe I'm the weird one?

they're not, but i'm pretty americanized, and so are most my friends.....as our H's cousins (it's his parents/aunts/uncles that are traditional).

LOL I think I confused myself anyway whether or not there was a typo. Ok, so basically Sun is better for the people here and Sat is better for the OOT people... um, darn, I messed up the poll :-/ I'm laughing at myself for not understanding what's going on. I voted Sat, but I guess I should have voted Sun because I say go with the people here.

This. Also, I agree with Amandasw, unless I had the money (which I don't and never will), I'd rather come visit when I can meet the baby and send a gift in lieu of my presence beforehand.

the OOT aunts/uncles/cousins are chinese enough where they probably won't send gifts if they can't make it...but that's okay, the aunts/uncles will be hit up for the 30-day party, and they'll be too chinese to not send anything for that. the cousins, however, would be too americanized and won't send anything for that. but oh well. we're not counting on any of that money anyways...it's really more of a party just to get everybody together for our own ake.

my oot friends might send something. i'm not sure. i'm not concerned about the gifts, i just want them here Sad

i voted saturday becasue then you have a whole day left in the weekend to get the stuff put away. i didn't even consider oot-ers.. i just feel like they won't come.. i wouldn't change the date for them... but since your friends here can do it sun, do it then.

either way, the people who want to come will. especially if you give them like 4-6 weeks notice, people will find a way to change their schedules.
