Re: QUICK! I need the runza casserole recipe!

  • RUNZA CASSEROLE (Normal version and my healthier one)

2 tubes crescent rolls (I used reduced fat)
1 can of cream of mushroom soup (I used healthy one)
1 can of mushrooms (I nixed this cuz dont like em)
1 lb ground beef (I used 1.5 lbs ground turkey)
    1/2 bag of cabbage
    1/4 Cup chopped onion
1 bag of mozzarella cheese (I did healthy with this as well and only used 1/2 bag)
garlic powder, salt, pepper to taste

    Brown meat, onions, and seasonings
Put 1 tube of crescent rolls in bottom of greased pan and bake for 10 mins
add cabbage to beef mixture and cook 6-8 mins covered
mix soup and mushrooms into cabbage mixture
put mixture on top of crescent rolls in pan, top with 3/4 of cheese
put other tube of rolls on top and sprinkle with remaining cheese ( I did do this but wont do it next time)
bake at 350 for 20-30 mins until top is golden brown
Married 5/14/07 Momma to two amazing boys 6/20/08 & 11/20/09
  • I have two:

2 tubes crescent rolls (I use reduced fat)
1 can cream of mushroom soup (I use the Heart healthy version, less fat and sodium)
    1 can of mushrooms
    1 lb ground beef
    1 bag of cabbage
1 bag of shredded cheese (really any flavor will work)
1/4 cup chopped onion (approximately, I use more)
Garlic salt...to taste (maybe 2 teaspoons)

Brown beef, onions, and garlic salt, then drain.
Meanwhile, put 1 tube of crescent rolls in bottom of a greased cake pan and bake for about 8 minutes.
Add cabbage to beef mixture and cook 6-8 minutes in skillet with lid.
Mix soup and mushrooms into cabbage mixture.
Put cabbage mixture on top of bottom layer of crescent rolls, and top with all but 1/4 cup of the bag of cheese)
Put other tube of crescent rolls on top then sprinkle the 1/4 c of the cheese on the very top
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until the top layer of the crescent rolls is golden brown.

    2nd one:

    1 pack of shredded cabbage

1 can of cheddar cheese soup

    1 lb of ground hamburger

    Lots of pepper

    Garlic Salt/powder

    Sprinkle onion in browned hamburger

1 package of crescent rolls (I get the no seam ones they lay nicer) and put it at the bottom, mix mixture and pour in-between, and then another package of crescent rolls on top.  Bake for 30 minutes at 350 (or until golden brown)

I have cut this recipe in half (and still used the full soup can and it tasted good) so if you use the full I might consider using 2 cans of soup, maybe one cream of mushroom and one cheddar if you don?t? want them too cheesy.

  • Thanks!!
