House sold across the street....
......for 70K MORE than we paid for our house. Woot! I have been waiting for the closing to be published to see how much they got and I am so freaking excited. Their house is the same age, layout, size, bedrooms, bathrooms - everything. Both interiors/exteriors are similar looking/updated, etc. This is a great comp for us for if /when we sell. I hope this means the market is finally turning in our area!

We're considering a move in the future and I'm hoping we can get what we paid. It's wishful thinking.
I hear you. It's $70K more, but we've put about that into the house since we got it (new roof, new siding, adding a/c, updating the oil burner, etc). So, we'd just break even too if we sold now. We were just hoping it had increased at all from what we paid 2.5 years ago.

That's fantastic!! I hope more in your neighborhood do the same.
Unfortunately for us, our home value just dropped $19k, and all the homes in our neighborhood (which I consider 5 of the streets around us) are selling really low. I think we'll be in this house longer than we planned!
