things to do with a kid in arlington, va?
My 3 year old and I are meeting two friends (adults) in the Washington, DC area and think that Arlington is a good meeting point. Can you suggest something we can do in the afternoon that is kid friendly but not completely awful for adults (ie Chuck E Cheese is not an option).
Also, if you could based on that name a good place to eat for dinner that would be great!
Thanks for your help.

It's not in Arlington, but maybe walking around Old Town Alexandria. There are a lot of neat shops and the streets are quaint. Also, there is a lovely waterfront.
Or take a trip to see the Iwo Jima Memorial. There's Pentagon City Mall, if you like malls.
For dinner, Carlyle Grand Cafe has free parking, yummy food and is kid-friendly. It's in the Shirlington neighborhood of Arlington, which is a very nice little neighborhood.

Shirlington is really cute, and Carlyle is great. There is a library there that has a kids section with pillows they can jump around on. Not exactly exciting for adults, but it's no Chuck E. Cheese.
well, what do you want to *do*?
In Clarendon, you could go to the park in Lyon Village, tire out your kid while the adults chat, then head over for dinner at some place like Pete's Apizza (delicious woodfire pizza, very kid friendly). Finish up with frozen yogurt from Pink Berry. There are also shops there (W&S, Potterybarn, B&N, Ann Taylor Loft, etc.) if you want to do some shopping. FWIW, there are also fast-casual places like Baja Fresh in Clarendon too.
There's also Roosevelt Island (outside of Rosslyn) that y'all could go & walk around, then drive to dinner somewhere.Similarly, there is Potomac Overlook Park.
What day of the week would this be? My suggestions for a Saturday or Sunday vary greatly from a weekday
all of this...also there is a small play ground and some fountains in the shopping center where W&S, Pottery Barn, etc are located.
