Help me plan/brainstorm this please

My oldest daughter has made a very specific request for Christmas.  She has this felt book that she LOVES: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cinderella-Soft-Play-Felt-Play-Set-Board-Book-/270808905685?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0d77f7d5

She wants Santa to bring her another book but she wants the people to be everyone in our family and all of our pets.  I'm stuck on how best to do it.  I thought of printing pictures of each of us, laminating them and putting a velcro dot on the back to make them stick to felt.  But I worry that she'd be disappointed if they weren't felt.   Any ideas? Could I print on fabric and then attach it to the felt?

I think the book itself is pretty straightforward, but it would be cool to have the pages be pictures of real places if I could find a way to do it.

Any ideas?

  • I have made flannel board pieces before (out of felt) where I printed the image onto iron on transfer paper and then ironed it onto the felt.  I'll be honest, not sure how durable it is for the long haul, but cheap and easy enough that you could replace the people who were "loved" the most :)

I was going to suggest the same thing with the iron on transfer.

  • Okay, I'll have to try the iron on transfer paper then.  Maybe I'll just keep some extra on hand for when someone needs to be replaced.  Thank you both!  :)
