Re: Toys for a 1 year old
Leap Frog Learning Table
Vtech Alphabet Train
Leap Frog Fridge Magnets (We have the ABC's, Farm and Carwash)
Leap Frog My Pal Violet
Playskool Busy Ball Popper
Playskool Walk and Ride toy
Little Tikes Cozy Coupe
Fisher Price corn popper (thing with a blue handle and a clear dome--colored balls pop inside when kid pushes it)
A wooden shape sifter in the shape of a house
Blocks
A doll stroller
The first and last things I listed are things she can push. Those kinds of toys were highly recommended by friends/family and they were right!
Baby dolls
Stroller
Big Legos
Leapfrog computer
Vtech crazy legs learning bug
(My old cell phone is her favorite toy.)
Every kid (no matter the age) that comes to my house plays with the Busy Ball Popper. Kids love that thing.
Also, the Vtech Alphabet Train is a great toy.
Another favorite at that age was the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Home. Really any of the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn products are great - Piggy Bank, Purse, Vacuum. We have/had all of those.
-Wooden Xylephone
-Wood blocks
-Shape Sorter
-PBK had this wooden pull along (or push) toy, like the lawn mower idea, that he is obsessed with-I can't find it online
-Books
-balls, A loves balls that bounce and roll easily
-Abacus
Music set - drum with different instruments inside it
Books - You're My Little Love Bug is a HUGE hit.
Tunnels/ball pit
ride on/push toys
The busy ball popper is great! Annoying as hell, but it entertains them!
Austin was starting to get into mega blocks around that time.... Also, around 16 months he started to play with puzzles...the baby ones of course. A piano, or drums (music set). Another fav was one of those tunnels to crawl through.
And yea, anything that they can stand up to and push or climb on. Austin has a mower, a riding/push thing, a vacuum, etc.
Also, if someone wants to get her a big present, you may want to think about a kitchen set. We are getting A one for Christmas this year, but for the last few months he's loved playing with his cousin's. So I would think that she would start to enjoy it before her next b-day or next Christmas. KWIM? Also, last year for Christmas my family bought him a water/sand table. Granted he didn't use it til spring, but it was a good "big gift" that we probably wouldn't have bought otherwise.
THanks for all the great ideas. I think I have a pretty good list for her now and like many others since bday and xmas are so close together I need to give lots of options.
I have a kitchen for her which I'm not sure if that will be xmas or bday and my parents have this cool table and chair set they've had for YEARS in their attic waiting for me to have a baby, so she will get that also. But I like the idea of the water/sand table for summer.
