applying for a job from linkedin

I just connected with a recruiter for a company on LinkedIn.  I was looking through her job postings and there is one that I want to apply for.  The application process is to email the recruiter that I know.  So do I say something in the cover letter about "knowing" her and/or the person who we connected through, or do I write the cover letter like I don't know her and send her a seperate email for a message on LinkedIn to make sure she takes a look at my application?  TIA!

Re: applying for a job from linkedin

  • I wouldn't say that you know her.  You could reference that you found the position under her job postings on linkedin and leave it at that.  Make sure your employment & endorsements are up to date on your linkedin account.

You could send her a separate message saying that you emailed her your application for position xyz and hope that you'll be considered for the position.
